Mid Day Market Commentary

The market after a good start came under heavy selling pressures shown in the selective scrips and was trading with marginal gains. Most of the selling was seen in the mid cap and small cap stocks. Overall market breadth is negative as 1088 stocks advanced while 1210 stocks declined and 74 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

At 12.34 pm, BSE sensex was at 14273.40 up by 55.63 points and Nifty was at 4181.95 up by 14.65 points. BSE Mid cap declined by 6.51 points to trade at 5798.82 and BSE small cap by 23.58 points to trade at 7051.43.

BSE Banks index inclined 90.00 points to trade at 7327.35 as ICICI Bank (2.04%), PNB (0.75%), SBI (0.73%) and HDFC Bank (0.72%) are trading higher.

BSE capital goods index inclined 70.34 points to trade at 9873.51 as L&T (0.96%), BHEL (0.93%) and Siemens (0.09%) are trading in green while ABB (0.32%) is trading in red.

BSE auto index rose 28.89 points to trade at 4970.69 as Tata Motors (2.3%), Maruti (0.38%) and Bajaj (0.29%) are trading in green while Hero Honda and M&M are trading lower by (2.91%) and (0.38%) respectively.

BSE FMCG index grew 11.69 points to trade at 1849.40 as HLL grew by 1.07% and ITC by 0.22% while Dabur declined by (0.91%).

BSE Health Care index inclined by 7.12 points to trade at 3838.64 as Dr. Reddy (2.42%), GSK (0.86%) and Sun Pharma (0.52%) are trading in green whereas Ranbaxy (0.23%) is trading in red.

BSE IT index fell 68.75 points to trade at 4958.54 as HCL (1.71%) and Satyam (1.37%) are trading lower while Infosys and Wipro are trading higher by (0.3%) and (0.18%) respectively.

BSE Metal index decreased 30.62 points to 10013.25 as Tata Steel (0.74%), NALCO (1.06%), Hindalco (1.17%) and SAIL (0.11%) are trading lower.

BSE Oil & gas index was trading 6.06 points down at 7197.58 as GAIL (1.36%) and IPCL (0.2%) RPL (1.67%), HPCL (0.97%), BPCL (0.12%) are trading in green whereas ONGC (0.16%) is trading in red.
