Mid Day Market Commentary

The markets are still trading weak on the back of heavy selling pressures seen in Metal, Oil & Gas and the Health Care sector. Overall market breadth is negative as 1480 stocks declined while 779 stocks advanced and 63 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

At 12.29 pm, BSE sensex was at 14017.37 down by 210.51 points and Nifty was at 4116.20 down by 61.65 points. BSE Mid cap declined by 20.97 points to trade at 5767.06 and BSE small cap by 44.63 points to trade at 6972.69.

BSE auto index rose 33.94 points to trade at 5012.82 as Bajaj Auto (1.44%), Maruti Udyog (0.23%) and Tata Motors (0.12%) are trading in green while Hero Honda and M&M are in red by (1.01%) and (0.34%) respectively.

BSE IT index grew marginally 0.83 points to trade at 4959.47 as HCL (1.12%), Satyam (1.3%) and Wipro (0.33%) are trading in green whereas Infosys and TCS (0.5%) and (0.99%) are trading in red.

BSE Metal index plunged 130.79 points to 9826.86 as Tata Steel (2.24%), Hindalco (0.74%), NALCO (0.64%) and SAIL (0.26%) are trading lower.

BSE Oil & gas index was trading 124.52 points down at 7175.55 as ONGC (2.56%)GAIL (0.62%), IPCL (1.3%), HPCL (1.21%) and RPL (0.79%) are trading in negative territory whereas BPCL (1.3%) is trading in positive territory.

BSE Health Care index slipped by 113.35 points to trade at 3733.75 as Cipla (14.4%), Sun Pharma (1.91%), GSK (0.99%) and Dr. Reddy (0.2%) are trading lower.

BSE Banks index declined 83.53 points to trade at 7173.16 as ICICI Bank (1.92%), SBI (1.17%), HDFC Bank (0.92%) and PNB (0.56%) are trading lower.

BSE capital goods index declined 53.82 points to trade at 9838.41 as BHEL (1.09%) and L&T (0.96%) are trading in red while Siemens and ABB are trading in green by (1.55%) and (0.78%) respectively.

BSE FMCG index fell 12.48 points to trade at 1829.82 as HLL (1.58%), ITC (0.65%) and Dabur (0.31%) are trading in negative.
