Post Session Market Commentary

The market after beginning the trading session on a weak note due to negative global cues, ended flat in red zone. The BSE Sensex ended the trading session with loss of 52.49 points at 13,619.70 while Nifty lost 13.95 points to close at 3,997.65 .Of the stocks traded on BSE 1,151 advanced, 1,358 declined and 84 stocks ended unchanged. The BSE Mid cap lost 1.37 points to settle at 5,652.08 while BSE Small cap declined 3.21 points to close at 6,905.29.

BSE bank index grew 38.13 points at 6848.85 as SBI 1.72%, PNB 1.40%, ICICI Bank 0.86%, IDBI Bank 0.72% and HDFC Bank 0.26% ended in green.

BSE Health Care Index closed at 3,773.42 up by 10.82 points as Sun Pharma 0.67%, Cipla 0.47% and Ranbaxy 0.29% ended in green while GSK (1.21%) and Dr. Reddy (0.52%) ended in red.

BSE oil & gas index closed at 6,863.97 lost by 2.74 points as Essar oil (2.13%), IOCL (1.63%), ONGC (1.12%) and BPCL (0.53%) ended in negative territory while IPCL gained 0.73% and HPCL 0.72% closed in green.

BSE IT index down by 75.32 points to close at 4,974.83 as Satyam (2.98%), Infosys (1.84%), Wipro (1.25%), HCL Tech (0.39%) and TCS (0.31%) closed in red.

BSE Metal index closed lower by 41.60 points at 9373.42 as Tata Steel (1.20%) and Nalco (1.03%) closed in negative whereas SAIL 0.24% and Hindalco 0.21% closed in green.

BSE FMCG index closed at 1,810.83 up by 9.00 points as ITC gained by 1.24% and Dabur advanced by 0.81% to close in green whereas HLL fell (0.55%) to end in red.

BSE Capital goods index lost ground by 23.88 points to close at 9,654.29 as BHEL advanced by (2%) and Siemens (1.05%) closed in red while L&T up by 0.04% and ABB gained 2.66% to close in green.

BSE Auto Index decreased by 33.25 points at 4810.28 as Bajaj (2.23%), M&M (1.58%) and Tata Motors (1.18%) ended in red while Maruti 0.91% and Hero Honda 1.10% ended in green.
