The market after beginning the trading session on a strong note, ended up in green zone backed by sustained buying across all the sectors. The BSE Sensex ended the trading session with a growth of 277.71 points at 13,897.41 while Nifty ended up by 85.9 points to close at 4,083.55 .Of the 2,665 stocks traded on BSE 1,508 advanced, 1,072 declined and 85 stocks ended unchanged.
The BSE Mid cap gained 47 points to settle at 5,699.08 while BSE Small cap inclined 69.08 points to close at 6,974.37.
BSE bank index grew 65.52 points to close at 6914.37 as SBI 2.03%, ICICI Bank 1.08%, IDBI Bank 1.97% and HDFC Bank 1.23% closed higher whereas PNB closed lower by 0.24%.
BSE Health Care Index closed at 3792.99 up by 19.57 points as Sun Pharma 1.84%, Dr. Reddy 0.70%, Ranbaxy 0.63%, Cipla 0.32% and GSK 0.24% ended in green.
BSE oil & gas index closed at 7,052.08 up by 188.11 points as ONGC 2.91%, IPCL 2.85%, BPCL 1.35%, IOCL 0.95% and HPCL 0.62% ended in green while Essar oil (0.27%) ended in red.
BSE IT index grew by 80.26 points to close at 5,055.09 as Satyam 6.33%, HCL Tech 3.95%, TCS 1.03% and Infosys 0.76% closed in green while Wipro (1.40%)closed in red.
BSE Metal index closed higher by 328.86 points at 9,702.28 as SAIL 6.68%, Tata Steel 5.77%, Nalco 3.01% and Hindalco 0.79% closed in green.
BSE FMCG index closed at 1,811.71 up by 0.88 points as ITC gained by 1.01% while Dabur (2.61%) and HLL (0.80%) ended in red.
BSE Capital goods index grew by 143.61 points to close at 9,797.90 as ABB 2.23%, L&T 2.08%, Siemens 1.73% and BHEL 1.36% closed in green.
BSE Auto Index increased by 21.06 points at 4831.34 as M&M 1.39%, Tata Motors 1.35%, Maruti 0.19% and Bajaj 0.04% ended in green while Hero Honda 0.74% ended in red.
