Post Session Market Commentary

The market ended the trading session with a strong note. The market edged higher today after the declaration of the monetary policy by the RBI. The action in several counters towards the end saw the index surge to an intra day high of 14,197.32. The BSE Sensex ended the trading session with a growth of 208.39 points at 14,136.72 while Nifty closed up by 56.7 points at 4,141.80 .Of the 2,628 stocks traded on BSE 1274 advanced, 1279 declined and 75 stocks were unchanged. The BSE Mid cap up by 42.90 points to settle at 5,745.34 and BSE small cap grew by 32.71 points to close at 7,003.63.

BSE Metal index surged by 147.03 points to close at 10,043.87 as Tata Steel 3.86%, Nalco 1.25% and Hindalco 0.41% closed in green whereas SAIL (1%) ended in red.

BSE bank index grew 279.56 points at 7161.40 as Canara bank 9.52%, BOI 7.40%, SBI 6.88%, PNB 6.83%, IDBI Bank 4.02%, ICICI Bank 3.65%, and HDFC bank 2.65% closed in green.

BSE Health Care Index closed at 3,766.90 up by 27.01 points as Cipla 2.24% and Sun Pharma 1.36% ended in green whereas GSK (1.18%) and Dr. Reddy (1.11%) ended in red.

BSE oil & gas index closed at 7203.64 grew by 100.75 points as IPCL 2.35%, RPL 2.13%, ONGC 1.66%, HPCL 1.01%, IOCL 0.48% and BPCL 0.15% ended in positive zone.

BSE IT index down by 35.57 points to close at 5,027.29 as Wipro (2.23%), TCS (1.63%), Satyam (1.19%) and Infosys (0.45%) closed in red while HCL Tech 1.85% closed in green.

BSE FMCG index closed at 1,792.53 up by 10.15 points as HLL 2.45% and Dabur 1.91% while ITC (0.93%) closed in red.

BSE Capital goods index grew by 23.80 points to close at 9,794.62 as Siemens 5.51% ABB 1.46% and L&T 0.10% closed in green while BHEL (1.75%) closed in red.

BSE Auto Index increased by 79.12 points at 4882.03 as Maruti 3.52%, Tata Motors 3.50% M&M 1.75%, Bajaj 1.66%, and Hero Honda 1.01% ended in green
