Post Session Market Commentary

The market ended the trading session with a positive note. The action in several counters towards the end saw the index surge to an intra day high of 14,238.29. The BSE Sensex ended the trading session with a growth of 81.05 points at 14,217.77 while Nifty closed up by 25.5 points at 4167.30 .Of the 2,599 stocks traded on BSE 1464 advanced, 1058 declined and 77 stocks ended unchanged. The BSE Mid cap up by 59.99 points to settle at 5805.33 and BSE small cap grew by 71.38 points to close at 7075.01.

BSE Metal index declined by 24.16 points to close at 10,019.71 as Tata Steel (1.43%) closed in red while Nalco 1.93%, Hindalco 0.61%, and SAIL 0.04% ended in green.

BSE bank index grew 75.95 points at 7237.35 as IDBI 1.96%, HDFC bank 1.76%, ICICI Bank 1.24%, BOI 0.91%, SBI 0.55% and PNB 0.39% closed in green.

BSE Auto Index increased by 59.77 points to close at 4,882.03 as Hero Honda 3.98%, Tata Motors 2.14% and M&M 2.55% closed in green whereas Maruti (0.67%) and Bajaj (0.32%) ended in green.

BSE Health Care Index closed at 3831.52 up by 64.62 points as Cipla 5.41%, GSK 3.27% ended in green whereas Dr. Reddy (0.39%) and Sun Pharma (0.05%) ended in red.

BSE oil & gas index closed at 7303.27 grew by 99.63 points as ONGC 2.55%, RPL 1.89%, BPCL 1.62%, IOCL 0.89%, IPCL 0.83% and HPCL 0.30% ended in positive.

BSE IT index down by 65.57 points to close at 4961.72 as Wipro (0.30%), TCS (0.41%), Satyam (1.79%), Infosys (1.96%) and HCL Tech. (0.84%) closed in red.

BSE FMCG index closed at 1837.71 up by 45.18 points as ITC 3.39% and HLL 1.96%ended in green while Dabur (0.05%) closed in red.

BSE Capital goods index grew by 8.55 points to close at 9,803.17 as ABB 1.86% ended in green whereas L&T (0.87%), Siemens (0.27%) and BHEL (0.02%) closed in red.
