Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex closed with a decline of 55.02 points at 13,879.25 while Nifty closed lower by 6.20 points at 4,111.15. Of the 2647 stocks traded on BSE, 1,387 declined while 1,197 advanced. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed lower by 18.80 points and 11.46 points to settle at 5,844.36 and 7,020.11.

BSE Metal index declined by 50.52 points to close at 9946.27 as Hindalco (2.16%) and Tata Steel (0.18%) ended in red while NALCO 1.39% and SAIL 0.79% closed in green.

BSE bank index down by 53.82 points to close at 6820.67 as PNB (2.88%), ICICI Bank (1.28%), SBI (0.85%)and HDFC (0.79%) ended in red.

BSE Auto Index closed lower by 24.96 points at 5039.06 as M&M (1.79%), Tata Motors (0.16%) and Maruti (0.16%) ended in red.

BSE Health Care Index closed at 3,736.52 down by 8.84 points as Dr.Reddy (2.20%) and Cipla (1.38%) closed in red while GSK (0.08%) ended in green.

BSE oil & gas index closed higher by 76.44 points at 7,321.40 as BPCL (4.60%), HPCL (3.87%) and IPCL (0.35%) closed in green.

BSE IT index closed at 5,013.47 down by 68.74 points as Wipro (2.24%), Satyam (2.17%), Infosys (1.61%) and HCL Tech. (0.37%) closed in red.

BSE FMCG index closed marginally higher by 0.89 points at 1,812.40 as HLL (0.21%) ended in green while ITC (0.19%) closed in red.

BSE Capital goods index closed at 9,925.78 down by 10.56 points as L&T (0.20%) and BHEL (0.16%) closed in red while Siemens (0.13%) and ABB (2%) closed in green.
