The BSE Sensex ended the session on a positive note as it grew by 26.29 points to close at 14,570.75 while Nifty closed at 4,297.05 up by 1.25 points. Of the 2,655 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,369 stocks advanced while 1,190 stocks declined. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed higher by 41.88 points and 60.84 points at 6,264.28 and 7,473.87 respectively.
BSE Capital goods index closed higher by 87.77 points at 11,241.76 as ABB (2.21%), BHEL (1.10%), Siemens (0.86%) and L&T (0.22%) closed in green.
BSE bank index closed higher by 75.29 points at 7,682.64 as OBC (3.83%), SBI (1.90%), HDFC bank (1.65%), ICICI bank (1%) and BOI (0.45%) closed in positive
BSE Metal index closed at 10,468.17 up by 62.18 points as Maharastra Seamless by (7.29%), Jindal Steel (3.22%), NALCO (1.57%), Tata Steel (0.39%) and Hindalco (0.11%) closed in positive.
BSE IT index closed at 4,908.38 grew 56.95 points as Patni computers by (4.05%), Satyam (1.90%), Infosys (1.03%), TCS (0.86%) and HCL Tech (0.44%) closed in green.
BSE Auto Index closed in positive at 5,030.20 up by 17.92 points as M&M (0.57%) and Bajaj Auto (0.48%) closed in green while Hero Honda (2.08%), Tata motors (1.37%) and Maruti Udyog (0.83%) closed in red.
BSE Health Care Index closed higher by 10.59 points at 3,852.43 as Glaxosmithkline 1.78%, Cipla 3.01%, Ranbaxy labs 0.13% closed higher while Sun pharma (1.47%) and Dr. Reddy lab (0.15%) closed lower.
BSE FMCG index closed at 1,890 down by 16.85 points as Dabur (1.71%), ITC (1.31%) and HLL (1.11%) closed in red.
BSE oil & gas index closed lower by 16.11 points at 7,779.56 as Reliance petroleum (1.39%), BPCL (0.64%) and ONGC (0.49%) closed in red while GAIL (4.01%) and HPCL (1.74%) closed in green
