Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a negative note as it declined by 70.02 points to close at 14,431.06 while Nifty soared down by 21.75 points to close at 4,263.95. Of the 2,647 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,338 stocks declined while 1,245 stocks advanced. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed marginally higher by 6.91 points and 9.12 points at 6,424.81 and 7,613.84 respectively.

BSE Auto Index fell 41.85 points to close at 4,746.24 as M&M (2.02%), Tata Motors (1.83%) and Maruti Udyog (0.71%) closed in red while Bajaj Auto (0.17%) closed in red.

BSE Capital goods index grew by 38.14 points to close at 11,988.05 as Suzlon energy (6.72%) and Siemens 0.31% closed in green whereas BHEL (0.46%), L&T (0.29%) and ABB (0.27%) closed in red.

BSE bank index declined by 49.81 points to close at 7,752.52 as Union bank (2.36%), BOB (2.92%), HDFC bank (1.18%), ICICI bank (0.81%) and SBI (0.70%) closed lower while BOI 0.46% and PNB 0.16% closed higher.

BSE Metal index closed at 10,685.59 declined by 85.24 points as SAIL (2.28%), Tata Steel (1.14%) Hindalco (0.64%), Jindal Saw (0.27%) closed in red while Sterlite industries (0.82%) and Nalco (0.60%) closed in green.

BSE IT index grew by 43.48 points to close at 4,843.47 as Satyam computers (2.55%), TCS (0.94%), HCL tech (0.86%), Infosys (0.72%) and Wipro (0.24%) closed in green.

BSE Health Care Index closed lower by 12.46 points at 3,781.54 as Sun pharma (2.13%), Ranbaxy labs (1.41%) and Cipla (0.51%) closed lower while Glaxosmithkline (0.71%) closed higher.

BSE FMCG index closed marginally lower by 2.92 points at 1,816.32 as Dabur (0.58%) and ITC (0.45%) closed in negative while Tata tea (1.04%) and HLL (0.34%) closed in positive.

BSE oil & gas index slipped by 41.62 points to close at 7,616.72 as BPCL (2.14%), ONGC (1.57%) and GAIL (0.76%) closed in red while Reliance petroleum (2.06%), and IOCL (1.02%) and IPCL (0.47%) closed in green.
