Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a negative note as it decreased by 35.85 points to close at 15,009.88 while Nifty slipped by 13.35 points to close at 4,406.05. Of the 2,710 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,465 stocks declined while 1,172 stocks advanced. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed lower by 18.10 points and 10.33 points at 6,665.60 and 8,009.66 respectively.

BSE Auto Index increased by 56.95 points to close at 4,945.84 as Tata Motors (4.03%), Maruti Udyog (2.38%), M&M (1.16%), and Bajaj Auto (1.08%)closed in green while Hero Honda (2.35%) closed in red.

BSE Capital goods index decreased by 141.65 points to close at 12,760.17 as Siemens (1.40%), L&T (1.12%), ABB (0.75%), BEML (0.62%) and BHEL (0.50%) closed in red.

BSE bankex index decreased by 75.63 points to close at 8,104.09 as HDFC bank (1.73%), SBI (1.31%), PNB (0.90%), ICICI bank (0.73%) and UTI bank (0.31%) closed in red.

BSE Metal index closed at 10,942.38 up by 71.91 points as Nalco (3.09%), SAIL (1.84%), Tata Steel (1.35%) and Hindalco (0.23%) closed in green while Sterlite industries (1.08%) closed in red.

BSE IT index increased by 40.33 points to close at 5,036.99 as Infosys (1.35%), Satyam (1.15%), TCS (0.85%) and HCL tech (0.38%) closed higher while Wipro (0.86%) closed in positive.

BSE Health Care Index closed flat at 3,843.75. Dr Reddy (0.64%) and Cipla (0.21%) closed higher while Sun pharma (1.52%), Glaxosmithkline (0.69%) and Ranbaxy (0.12%) closed lower.

BSE FMCG index slipped by 5.40 points to close at 1,839.08 as ITC (1.48%) and Tata tea (0.67%) closed lower while Dabur (4.50%) and HUL (1.61%) closed in green.

BSE oil & gas index decreased by 38.35 points to close at 7,615.96 as HPCL (2.12%), GAIL (1.76%) and IPCL (0.32%) closed in negative while ONGC (0.29%) closed higher.
