Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a negative note as it closed lower by 642.70 points at 14,358.21 while Nifty decreased by 191.6 points to close at 4,178.60. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed lower by 210.72 points and 237.30 at 6,352.44 and 7,797.26 Of the 2,751 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,869 stocks declined while 842 stocks advanced.

BSE Metal index decreased by 717.02 points to close at 10,299.61 as Tata steel (10.34%), Sterlite Industries (8.22%), Hindalco industries (5.62%), JSW Steel (4.97%) and SAIL (2.88%) closed in negative.

BSE Auto Index slipped by 149.42 points to close at 4,662.17 as Tata Motors (4.07%), Maruti Udyog (3.78%), Bajaj Auto (3.17%), Mahindra and Mahindra (3.06%) and Hero Honda (1.34%) closed in red.

BSE oil & gas index dropped by 343.11 points to close at 7,504.59 as IPCL (4.45%), ONGC (4.12%), Reliance petroleum (3.28%), BPCL (2.87%), HPCL (2.82%) and GAIL (1.79%) closed lower.

BSE bankex index closed lower by 424.96 points at 7,421.33 as BOI (9.38%), ICICI bank (5.17%), SBI (5.78%), HDFC Bank (4.62%), Andhra Bank (4.31%) and PNB (4.21%) closed lower.

BSE Capital goods index slipped by 565.95 points to close at 12,214.56 as Praj industries (5.51%), BHEL (4.99%), ABB (4.29%), L&T (4.19%) and Siemens (2.91%) closed in negative.

BSE Health Care Index ended lower by 102.65 points to close at 3,526.95 as GlaxoSmithKline (5.04%), Cipla (3.94%), Ranbaxy (3.39%), Glennmark (2.34%), closed Dr Reddy lab (1.27%) and Sun pharma (1.04%) closed in red.

BSE FMCG index decreased by 66.68 points at 1,855.10 as Tata Tea (3.80%), Dabur (3.67%) and HUL (1.92%) closed in red.

BSE IT index closed lower by 124.31 points at 4,637.13 as TCS (3.70%), HCL technologies (3.48%), Wipro (2.45%), Infosys (2.24%) and Satyam (1.82%) closed lower.
