Mid Session Market

The market has gained further grounds on the back of buying interest continued in the Oil & Gas, Metal and Capital Goods stocks. However the IT stocks are still trading lower on selling pressure due to strong rupee, which is trading at below Rs.40 per dollar.

The overall market breadth is positive as 1364 stocks are advancing while 1257 stocks are declining .

At 12.30 pm, BSE Sensex was at 16,731.01 up by 166.78 points while Nifty was at 4,901.55 up by 64 points. The BSE mid cap is higher by 79.90 points at 7,279.82 and small cap advanced by 72.09 points to 8,967.39.

BSE Metal index surged 213.30 points to trade at 13,026.06 as SAIL (3.11%), Tata Steel (1.49%), Sterlite Industries (1.43%) and JSW Steel (0.91%) are trading higher whereas Hindalco Industries (0.68%) and NALCO (0.34%) are trading lower.

BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 211.08 points higher at 9,551.13 as RPL (7.10%), GAIL (5.10%), IPCL (2.46%), HPCL (1.99%), BPCL (0.93%) and ONGC (0.32%) are trading higher.

BSE Capital goods index improved 184.86 points to 14,705.03 as BHEL (2.03%) and L&T (1.97%) are trading up while Siemens (0.44%) and ABB (0.15%) are trading down.

BSE Banks index advanced by 150.63 points to trade at 8,890.47 as PNB (4.48%), IDBI (2.50%), ICICI Bank (2.07%), HDFC Bank (2.05%), SBI (1.66%) and Kotak Bank (1.45%) are trading in green.

BSE Auto index advanced 39.97 points to trade at 5,233.47 as Ashok Leyland (5.41%), Maruti Udyog (3.54%), Tata Motors (1.08%), Honda Motors (0.95%) and M&M (0.39%) are trading in positive.

BSE FMCG index decreased 2.13 points to trade at 2,150.86 as ITC (1.57%) and Nestle (0.39%) are trading lower while HUL (1.21%) and Dabur (1.16%) are trading higher.

BSE Health Care index dropped 3.77 points to trade at 3,650.47 as Sun Pharma (1.85%), GSK (0.96%) and Dr. Reddy (0.62%) are trading in red BSE IT index slipped by 72.70 points to trade at 4,355.64 as Infosys (2.79%), TCS (1.28%), Satyam (1.19%), HCL Tech. (1.09%) and Wipro (0.32%) are trading down.
