Mid Session Market

The market is now off the day''s high after The Sensex crossing the remarkable mark of 17,000 in the morning trade. The IT stocks are the top performing stocks today. However the Oil & Gas and FMCG stocks are reeling under pressure.

The broader market has outperformed the benchmark index as the BSE mid cap is higher by 72.78 points at 7,386.11 and small cap advanced by 95.27 points to 9,062.78.

The overall market breadth is positive as 1569 stocks are advancing while 944 stocks are declining

At 12.45 pm, BSE Sensex was at 16,944.76 up by 45.22 points while Nifty was at 4,952.40 up by 13.55 points.

BSE IT index surged by 128.78 points to trade at 4,477.40 as Satyam (3.63%), HCL Technologies (3.56%), TCS (2.99%), Infosys (2.94%) and Wipro (2.75%) are trading up.

BSE Metal index improved 60.44 points to trade at 13,141.27 as JSW Steel (3.39%), NALCO (1.42%) and Tata Steel (1.21%) are trading higher

BSE Health Care index enhanced 25.82 points to trade at 3,713.42 as Sun Pharma (1.47%), Cipla (1.18%), Ranbaxy (0.47%), Dr. Reddy (0.47%) and GSK (0.17%) are trading in green.

BSE Capital goods index advanced 61.36 points to 14,824.97 as BHEL (0.40%), L&T (0.21%) and Siemens (0.13%) are in green while ABB (0.53%) is trading red.

BSE Banks index increased by 31.66 points to trade at 8,976.64 as ICICI Bank (0.81%), SBI (0.28%) and IDBI (0.10%) are trading in positive while HDFC Bank (1.86%) and PNB (0.38%) are trading in negative.

BSE Auto index grew marginally 4.41 points to trade at 5,254.68 as Ashok Leyland (5.52%), Bajaj Auto (0.24%) and M&M (0.12%) are trading in positive while Maruti Udyog (1.25%) is trading in negative.

BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 37.04 points lower at 9,740.47 as IPCL (0.49%) and ONGC (0.06%) are trading in negative while HPCL (5.39%, Indian Oil (2.77%) and BPCL (2.58%) are trading in positive.

BSE FMCG index decreased 2.77 points to trade at 2,153.58 as HUL (0.99%) and Nestle (0.36%) are trading lower.
