The market is extremely volatile and has now given up all its opening gains. The market slipped down to trade in the negative territory as selling emerged in the selective index pivotal. However the Capital Gods index is the top performer today which is trading with a gain of above 400 points.
The overall market breadth is weak as 1006 stocks are advancing while 1517 stocks are declining and 72 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.
At 12.44 pm, BSE Sensex was at 17,763.87 down by 13.27 points while Nifty was at 5,189.95 down by 18.70 points. The Mid cap is lower by 47.03 points at 7,529.24 and the small Cap dropped marginally by 0.62 points to trade at 9,141.30.
BSE Capital goods index surged 464.52 points to 15,717.85. The main winners are BHEL (4.88%), L&T (4.14%), Siemens (2.67%) and ABB (2.28%).BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 118.27 points higher at 10,119.02 as Reliance (1.55%), Cairn (1.37%) and BPCL (0.04%).
BSE Metal index advanced 103.32 points to trade at 14,488.19. The major gainers are Bhussh Steel (12.76%), Jindal Steel (6.73%) and NALCO (2.23%).
BSE Banks index increased by 21.94 points to trade at 9,436.96. The main gainers are Bank of India (1.29%) and SBI (0.42%).
BSE Health Care index enhanced 18.34 points to trade at 3,845.91. Leading the gains are Divi''s Lab (3.38%), Aventis Pharma (1.52%) and GSK (1.46%).
Ranbaxy is trading lower by (0.50%). It has received final approval from US Food and Drug Administration to make and sell Clarithromycin, a drug used for treating infections. .
BSE Auto index dropped 11.91 points to trade at 5,400.28. Leading to the drop are Tata Motors (1.25%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.92%) and Hero Honda (0.83%).
BSE IT index down by 25.92 points to trade at 4,743.79 as TCS (1.91%), Wipro (1.53%), Satyam (0.97%), HCL Tech. (0.70%) and Infosys (0.45%) are trading lower.
HCL Technologies has entered into a multi-year, multi-regional contract with Hercules Incorporated, a leading manufacturer and marketer of specialty chemicals..
