The market has slipped from the day''s high and is now trading lower on the back of lacklusture performance in the selective index mainly led by the IT stocks. However a good level of buying is seen in the broader market. The Mid Cap and Small Cap has outperformed the benchmark index. As a result the overall market breadth remain positive, as 1876 stocks are advancing while 793 stocks are declining and 54 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.
The BSE Mid cap is higher by 107.22 points at 8,871.48 and the BSE small Cap advanced by 162.12 points to trade at 10,948.32.
At 12.32 pm, BSE Sensex was at 19,592.96 down by 10.45 points whereas Nifty was at 5868.75 up by 3.75 points.
BSE Metal index surged 205.19 points to trade at 18,486.43. The major gainers are SAIL (1.90%), Tata Steel (1.78%) and NALCO (0.81%).
BSE Capital goods index improved 231.40 points to 20,193.88. The main gainers are Siemens (3.26%), L&T (1.27%), BHEL (0.72%) and ABB (0.31%).
BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 32.51 points higher at 12,818.70 as GAIL (3.75%), HPCL (3.23%), BPCL (1.74%) and ONGC (0.68%) are trading in green.
BSE Power index advanced by 32.61 points to trade at 4,516.71 as GVK Power (0.87%), NTPC (0.81%), Tata Power (0.76%), Power Grid (0.63%) and Suzlon Energy (0.55%) are trading higher.
NTPC will spend Rs.110 billion in order to increase its production capacity and also to meet the nation''s increasing demand for energy. The company will expand its output by 2,250 megawatts in this fiscal.
BSE Auto index inclined 22.07 points to trade at 5,568.65. Leading to it are Ashok Leyland (4.36%), Appolo Tyre (2.05%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.86%) and TVS Motor (1.13%).
BSE Health Care index up by 12.46 points to trade at 3,865.99. Leading the gain are Pfizer (3.62%), Glenmak Pharma (1.81%), Divi''s Lab (1%) and Biocon (0.82%).
BSE IT index down by 7 points to trade at 4,247.05 as TCS (1.62%), HCL Tech. (0.96%), Satyam (0.67%) and Wipro (0.20%) are trading in negative territory.
