The market has maintained its opening rally and is trading higher on the back of strong buying momentum witnessed across the board. The BSE Mid Cap and BSE Small Cap however today have under performed the benchmark index. The Oil & Gas, Metal and Capital Goods are the top performers today, whereas the IT stocks are trading lower. The overall market breadth remains positive, as 1832 stocks are advancing while 1051 stocks are declining and the 28 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.
The BSE Mid cap is higher by 119 points at 10,176 and the BSE small Cap advanced by 113 points to trade at 14,0101.
At 12.31 pm, BSE Sensex was at 20,569 up by 224 points whereas Nifty was at 6,263.10 up by 84.55 points.
BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 333.77 points higher at 13,936.03 as RPL (4.05%), Cairn (3.39%), ONGC (3.13%) and RNRL (2.30%) are trading in green.
BSE Metal index surged by 267.49 points to trade at 20,265.66. The major gainers are Sterlite Industries (4.95%), Jindal Steel (1.74%), SAIL (0.57%) and JSW Steel (0.53%).
BSE Capital goods index advanced 143.34 points to 19,673.54. The main gainers are Praj Industries (3.51%), Siemens (2.35%), L&T (1.39%) and BHEL (0.72%).
BSE Power index inclined by 42.93 points to trade at 4,849.05 as Torent Power (13.19%), Areva (3.95%), Suzlon Energy (1.71%), Power Grid (1.45%) are trading higher.
BSE Banks index advanced by 72.81 points to trade at 11,743.29. The top gainers are Kotak Bank (1.96%), ICICI Bank (1.79%), Andhra Bank (1.70%) and Indian Overseas Bank (1.22%).
BSE FMCG index increased by 22.36 points to trade at 2,402.37 as Dabur (4.32%), Marico (3.63%), HUL (2.49%) and Tata Tea (2.44%) are trading in green.
BSE IT index dropped by 20.40 points to trade at 4,343.23 as NIIT Ltd.(2.23%), Tech. Mahindra (1.33%), Patni Computer (1.19%), TCS (1.13%) are trading in negative territory.
