Mid Session Market

The market is still trading lower as selling pressure continued in the selective scrips mainly led by the Oil & Gas, Bank and Auto stocks. The Inflation data came out today. It remained at 42-month high. The inflation for the week ended April 26 showed a margin rise at 7.61% as against 7.57% in the previous week. This is in line with the markets expectations. The broader market is trading flat as the BSE Mid cap is trading marginally down while the BSE Small Cap is trading higher.

The overall market breadth is marginally positive, as 1235 stocks are advancing while 1233 stocks are declining and the 48 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

The BSE Mid cap is lower by 2.71 points at 7,150.72 while the BSE small Cap advanced by 29.12 points to trade at 8,718.16.

At 12.30 pm, BSE Sensex was at 17,027.57 down by 53.08 points and Nifty was at 5,061.40 down by 20.30 points.

BSE Bankex index is trading lower by 44.79 points at 8,710.69. Losers are HDFC Bank (2.11%), Centurion Bank of Punjab (1.81%), Allahabad Bank (0.88%) and PNB (0.65%).

BSE Capital goods index inclined by 12.53 points to 13,387.72. The main gainers are L&T (1%), Bharat Electrical (0.58%), Siemens (0.26%).
Larsen and Tourbo has bagged a project from Power Grid Corporation Of India worth of Rs344 crore. As per this contract, L&T will construct 755 kms of transmission lines within the western region.

BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 96.73 points lower at 11,531.72 as RPL (3.68%), GAIL India (2.47%), BPCL (0.78%) and ONGC (0.45%) are trading in red.

BSE IT index fell by 4.63 points to trade at 4,289.83 as TCS (1.24%), Tech Mahindra (0.77%), Infosys Technologies (0.41%) and Mphasis (0.36%) are trading in red.

BSE Metal index slipped by 24.43 points to trade at 15,818.84. The major losers are Hindalco Industries (1.64%), Jindal Steel (1.46%, SAIL (0.94%) and Tata Steel (0.47%).

BSE Power index declined by 8.12 points to trade at 3,255.88 as GVK Power (2.57%), Torent Power (1.28%), Reliance Energy (0.80%) and Areva (0.15%) are trading in negative.

BSE Health Care index decreased by 13.16 points to trade at 4,208.13 as Dr.Reddy (2.57%), Sun Pharma (2.09%), Fortis Health (1.40%) and Divi’s Lab (0.62%) are trading in negative.

BSE Auto index slipped by 13.70 points to trade at 4,753.26 as Mahindra & Mahindra (0.70%), Maruti Suzuki (0.85%), Tata Motors (0.31%) and Ashok Leyland (0.37%) are trading in negative.
