Mid Session Market - June 9, 2008

The market has lost further grounds and is trading in deep negative territory. All the BSE indices are trading with a deep cut. The BSE Sensex is hovering around the 1500 mark and the NSE Nifty has give up the 4500 mark. The strong selling is seen across the board mainly led by the Realty, Power, Capital Goods and Oil & Gas stocks. The broader market is also trading in negative as both the BSE Mid Cap and BSE small Cap are trading with a cut of more than 4% each.

The overall market breadth is extremely negative, as 233 stocks are advancing while 2212 stocks are declining and the 31 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

The BSE Mid cap is lower by 236.01 points at 6,114.14 and the BSE small Cap slipped by 315.28 points to trade at 7,380.76.

At 12.30 pm, BSE Sensex was at 15,100.65 down by 471.53 points and Nifty was at 4,481.05 down by 146.75 points.

BSE Realty dropped by 384.54 points to 5,825.76. Leading to its fall are HDIL (8.43%), Unitech (7.98%), DLF (6.43%), India Bull Real (5.69%) and Sobha Developers (5.56%) are trading lower.
DLF’s prestigious Rs 33,000-crore township at Dankuni is in uncertainty as opposition party and land owners are snot ready for this. This project is one of the largest real estate projects in the country and company has already shelled out Rs 270 crore to the government.

BSE Metal index slipped by 423.50 points to trade at 15,091.89. The major losers are SAIL (3.35%), NALCO (2.86%), Sterlite Industries (2.41%) and Tata Steel (2.32%).

BSE Capital goods index declined by 445.94 points to 11,586.70. The main losers are Siemens (6.14%), BHEL (3.60%), L&T (3.06%) and ABB (2.96%).
BHEL has bagged a Rs.3500 crore NTPC deal. The company has awarded boiler-turbine-generator (BTG) contracts for a total of 1,750 mw units to Bhel at an estimated value of Rs 3,500 crore.

BSE Power index decreased by (120.88 points to 2,579.14. The main losers are Suzlon Energy (7.73%), Tata Power (4.53%), Power Grid (4.20%), and NTPC (3.44%).

BSE Bankex index is trading lower by 245.18 points at 7,021.10. Losers are SBI (5.03%), HDFC Bank (4.67%), PNB (3.46%) and ICICI Bank (1.94%).

BSE Auto fell by 142.47 points to 4,084.85. Leading to its fall are Tata motors (5.32%), Mahindra & Mahindra (4.48%), Maruti Suzuki (2.39%) and Hero Honda (1.73%).

BSE IT index declined by 111.04 points to trade at 4,487.55 as Wipro (5.14%), HCL Technologies (4.21%), Satyam Computer (2.96%), Infosys Technologies (2.92%) and TCS (2.70%) are trading in green.
Wipro is planning to set up its engineering division in Kharagpur.

BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 386.98 points lower at 9,619.10 as BPCL (9.37%), ONGC (5.72%), Gail India (3.56%) and RPL (2.28%) are trading in red.
