Mid Session Market - July 1, 2008

The market is still under pressure as profit booking continued in the selective scrips mainly led by the Realty, Bank, Power and Auto stocks. However, some buying interest is seen in the IT stocks. The BSE Sensex is still hovering below the 13400 mark and the NSE Nifty managed to trade near the 4000 mark. The BSE Mid Cap and BSE Small Cap are also trading with a cut of more than 2% each.

The overall market breadth is negative 533 stocks are advancing while 1864 stocks are declining and the 54 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

The BSE Mid cap is lower by 122.50 points at 5,263.98 and the BSE small Cap is down by 152.28 points to trade at 6,549.68.

At 12.30 pm, BSE Sensex was at 13,364.46 down by 97.41 points and Nifty was at 3,998.50 down by 42.05 points.

BSE IT index inclined by 43.67 points to trade at 4,063.49 as Financial Technologies (2.27%), Satyam Computer (2.71%), HCL Technologies (1.85%), Wipro (1.36%) are trading in green.

BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 3.84 points higher at 9,013 as HPCL (1.34%), Gail India (1.22%) are trading in positive while Cairn India (8.85%), Essar Oil (3.17%) and BPCL (3.50%) are trading in negative.

BSE Health Care down by 25.54 points at 4,138.79. The top losers are Pfizer (3.54%), Ranbaxy Lab. (1.60%), Glenmark Pharma (1.55%) and Biocon (1.25%).

BSE Metal index slipped by 52.14 points to trade at 13,155.16. The major losers are JSW Steel (8.78%), Jindal Saw (3.03%), Ispat Industries (2.08%) and Sterlite Industries (1.27%).

BSE Capital goods index dropped by 51.20 points to 10,029.49. The main losers are Siemens (4.05%), BEML (3.71%), Punj Lloyd (2.27%) and Praj Industries (1.90%).

BSE Power index decreased by 26.02 points to 2,226.37. The main losers are GVK Power (6.10%), Suzlon Energy (6.90%), Torent Power (3.83%) and Reliance Infra. (3.41%).

BSE Bankex index is trading lower by 53.37 points at 5,862.61. Losers are PNB (4.02%), Indian Overseas Bank (3.82%), Kotak Bank (3.01%) and HDFC Bank (1.66%).

BSE Realty dropped by 159.04 points to 4,384.43. Leading to its fall are IndiaBull Real (8.55%), HDIL (4.93%), Omaxe Ltd. (4.56%), Purvankara (4.64%) and Unitech (4.48%) are trading lower.

BSE Auto fell by 45.80 points to 3,539.82. Leading to its fall are TVS Motor (3.59%), Tata Motors (2.70%), Ashok Leyland (2.44%) and Maruti Suzuki (0.77%).
