The market made sharp turn from the day’s low and is now trading higher as significant buying witnessed in the frontline stocks. However the BSE Mid Cap and BSE Small Cap stocks are still trading lower. The buying support is seen in the IT, Bank, Metal and Pharma stocks. However, the FMCG, Realty and Consumer Durables stocks are still under pressure.
The overall market breadth is negative 697 stocks are advancing while 1796 stocks are declining and the 53 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.
The BSE Mid cap is lower by 32.85 points at 5,109.01 and the BSE small Cap is down by 104.74 points to trade at 6,280.37.
At 12.30 pm, BSE Sensex was at 13,177.99 up by 216.31 points and Nifty was at 3,948.95 up by 52.20 points.
BSE IT index inclined by 106.46 points to trade at 4,056.41 as Wipro (6.45%), Satyam Computer (5.42%), Infosys Technologies (2.56%), TCS (0.51%) are trading in green.
BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 11.87 points higher at 8,745.59 as ONGC (1.23%), Essar Oil (0.42%) and RPL (0.15%) are trading in positive.
BSE Health Care up by 24.20 points at 4,098.19. The top gainers are Glaxosmith (2.20%), Glenmark Pharma (2.13%), Ranbaxy Lab. (1.83%) and Sun Pharma (1.39%).
BSE Metal index advanced by 85.32 points to trade at 12,579.51. The major gainers are Hindalco Industries (2.80%), JSW Steel (1.85%), Tata Steel (1.39%) and Jindal Steel (1.36%).
Steel Authority of India will form a joint venture company along with Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) for carrying out dry bulk shipping trade and importing coking coal.
BSE Capital goods index dropped by 55.70 points to 9,688.61. The main losers are BEML (5.60%), ABB (5.16%), Punj Lloyd (3.05%).
L&T is trading higher by (1.29%) as the company has received a letter of intent from Andhra Pradesh Power Development Company for a steam turbine generator package of 1600 MW for the Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Station at Krishnapatnam. The total value of the project worth around Rs.1557 crore.
BSE Power index decreased by 45.07 points to 2,111.87. The main losers are GVK Power (7.45%), Torent Power (4.81%), Suzlon Energy (4.64%), Reliance Power (4.04%).
BSE Bankex index is trading higher by 71.07 points at 5,654.66. Gainers are SBI (3.25%), HDFC Bank (2.65%), ICICI Bank (2.04%) and AXIX Bank (1.89%).
BSE Realty slipped by 62.54 points to 4,153.39. Leading to its fall are Unitech (4.17%), Sobha Developers (2.34%), Purvankara (1.89%), Omaxe Ltd. (0.83%) are trading lower.
