The market is on a back foot due to sustained selling pressures across the counters. The cues from the US market are not supportive that led to the domestic market to trade on the back foot. The Asin Markets that opened before the Indian market are also not in favor that also adds to the negative sentiments. The NSE Nifty fell below the 4000 mark and Sensex below 13,100 mark. The market opened with a huge gap down and is still trading with a deep cut. From the sectoral front, the Realty, Oil & Gas and Bankex stocks are facing some more selling pressures. The BSE Mid Cap and BSE Small Cap are also trading with a loss of more than 1% each.
The overall market breadth is weak as 1656 stocks are declining while 702 stocks are advancing and the 57 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.
The BSE Mid cap and Small Cap are trading down by 72.06 points and 85.73 points at 5,267.75 and 6,507.28 respectively.
At 12.35 pm, BSE Sensex was at 13,272.28 lower by 253.7 points and Nifty was at 3,966.80 down by 63.2 points.
Leading the rally of losers from the BSE are Akruti City trading lower by 6.58% at Rs717.25 along with Bajaj Hind by 6.37% at Rs152.95, IVRCL INF by 6.35% at Rs294, Punj Lloyd by 5.95% at Rs217.30, and Rel Infra by 5.91% at Rs732.50.
The Bankex index is trading lower by 201.32 points at 5,691.47. Pulling it are ICICI bank 4.81%, HDFC bank 3.98%, Union bank 3.90%, Axis bank 3.88%, SBI 3.26%, Canara bank 3.06%, Andhra bank 2.31% and Allahabad bank 1.78%.
The Realty index trading down by 175.75 points at 4,484.94. Losers are Indiabull Real 6.41%, Akruti City 6.36%, Mahindra Life 5.64%, Unitech 5.37%, Penland 4.48%, Phoenix Mill 4.36%, Anant Raj 3.08%.
The Metal index down by 103.01 points to trade at 12,154.98. Scrips that are trading lower are Gujarat NRE 4.01%, Jindal Saw 3.36%, Sesa Goa 3.02%, Jindal Steel 2.36%, Welspun Gujarat 2.17%, Ispat Inds 1.17% and Bhushan Steel 1.07%.
The Capital Goods index trading at 10,600 down by 108.42 points as Punj Lloyd 5.95%, Praj inds 3.71%, Kirloskar BR 2.79%, Thermax 2.44%, AIA Engineer 2.01%, L&T 1.95% and Siemens 1.65% are trading in negative.
From the oil and gas basket, ONGC 3.96%, Reliance industries 2.62%, RNRL 2.52%, Essar Oil 2.38%, HPCL 2.11% and Aban Offshore 1.75% are trading on the back foot.
From the IT index, Mosear Baer 4.02%, Aptech 3.70%, Satyam Comp 3.70%, Infosys 3.06%, TCS 3.03%, Tech Mahindra 2.28% and Wipro 1.48% are trading in red.
