Mid Session Market - July 9, 2008

The market has maintained its opening gains and is still trading higher. The strong buying continued across the board mainly led by the Bank, Realty, Power and Capital Goods stocks. The BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap stocks are also trading higher with a gap of more than 2% each. The BSE Sensex is trading above the 13700 mark and the NSE Nifty above the 4100 mark.

The overall market breadth is positive 1947 stocks are advancing while 472 stocks are declining and the 53 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

The BSE Mid cap is higher by134.20 points at 5,450.19 and the BSE small Cap is up by 176.83 points to trade at 6,739.45.

At 12.30 pm, BSE Sensex was at 13,817.65 up by 468 points and Nifty was at 4,112.95 up by 124.40 points.

BSE Capital goods index surged by 358.98 points to 11,213.12. The main gainers are BHEL (4.88%), ABB (3.87%), Siemens (3.62%) and L&T (3.46%).

BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 244.80 points higher at 8,988.16 as Gail India (5.52%), BPCL (5.32%), ONGC (3.05%) and RPL (2.31%) are trading in positive.

BSE Bankex index is trading higher by 244.87 points at 6,141.01. Gainers are ICICI Bank (5.49%), HDFC Bank (4.78%), PNB (3.20%) and SBI (1.97%).

BSE Realty advanced by 210.33 points to 4,831.31. Leading to its gain are HDIL (6.31%), India Bull (5.97%), Sobha Developers (5.44%), Unitech (4.55%) are trading higher.

BSE Metal index advanced by 225.05 points to trade at 12,491.83. The major gainers are Ispat Industries (4.71%), SAIL (4.20%), Jindal Steel (4.30%) and Tata Steel (2.41%).

BSE Power index increased by 88.35 points to 2,418.69. The main gainers are Reliance Infra. (7.78%), Power Grid (5.26%), Torent Power (4.83%), Suzlon Energy (3.89%).

BSE IT index inclined by 69.27 points to trade at 4,115.22 as TCS (3.82%), Infosys Technologies (1.61%), HCL Technologies (1.48%), Satyam Computer (0.77%) and Wipro (0.72%) are trading in green.

BSE Health Care up by 48.07 points at 4,138.45. The top gainers are Glenmark Pharma (3.50%), Dr.Reddy (3.56%), Fortis Healthcare (2.71%) and Biocon (1.64%).
