Mid Session Market - 1 Sep 08

The markets have lost further grounds as profit booking continued across the board mainly led by the Banking, Power, Metal, FMCG, Realty and Capital Goods stocks. The BSE Sensex has gone below the 14300 mark and the NSE Nifty below the 4300 mark. The BSE Mid Cap and the BSE Small Cap are also trading lower.

The overall market breadth is negative as 965 stocks are advancing while 1334 stocks are declining and the 73 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

The BSE Mid cap is lower by 35.42 points at 5,706.87 and the BSE small Cap slipped by 25.47 points to trade at 6,866.17.

At 12.30 pm, BSE Sensex was at 14,313.79 down by 250.73 points and the NSE Nifty was at 4,294.90 down by 65.10 points.

BSE Bankex index is trading lower by 161.57 points at 6,848.12. Losers are ICICI Bank (3.18%), SBI (2.98%), HDFC Bank (1.56%) and PNB (1.27%).

BSE Metal index dropped by 206.03 points at 12,141.99 as Tata Steel (3.69%), SAIL (3.30%), Nalco (2.84%) and Sterlite Industries (2.35%) are trading in red.

BSE Capital goods index slipped by 169.85 points to 11,716.77. The main losers are BHEL (2.63%), Siemens (2.37%), L&T (2.21%) and ABB (0.45%).

BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 19.58 points lower at 9,639.88 as BPCL (3.10%), ONGC (1.98%), Gail India (1.67%) are trading in negative.

BSE Realty index declined by 65.60 points to 4,929.65. The major losers are HDIL (3.33%), Ansal Infra (2.04%), Unitech (1.98%) and DLF (1.95%).

BSE Auto index decreased by 41.43 points to 3,959.80. The top losers are Maruti Suzuki (4.43%), Tata Motors (2.08%) and Mahindra & Mahindra (1.49%).

BSE IT index declined by 3.18 points to trade at 3,963.57 as Wipro (1.76%), Infosys Technologies (1.21%), TCS (0.39%) and Satyam Computer (0.17%) trading in negative.

BSE Power index decreased by 51.23 points to 2,552.88. Losers are GVK Power (2.90%), NTPC (2.57%), Power Grid (2.20%) and Tata Power (1.98%)
