Mid Session Market - Sep 11, 2008

The markets are still trading in deep red as selling pressure continued across the board. The most selling is seen in the Realty, Oil & Gas, Power, Banking, Consumer Durables and Capital Goods stocks. The BSE Sensex has slipped below the 14400 mark and the NSE Nifty below the 4300 mark. The BSE Mid Cap and the BSE Small Cap are also trading lower with a cut of nearly 1% each.

The overall market breadth remains negative as 689 stocks are advancing while 1692 stocks are declining and the 71 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

The BSE Mid cap is lower by 58 points at 5,650.93 and the BSE small Cap slipped by 63.56 points to trade at 6,839.86.

At 12.30 pm, BSE Sensex was at 14,343.35 down by 319.26 points and the NSE Nifty was at 4,299.40 down by 100.85 points.

BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 254.58 points lower at 9,412.80 as ONGC (3.31%), RNRL (2.36%), Essar Oil (2.23%) and RPL (2.55%) are trading in negative.

BSE Capital goods index dropped by 207.39 points to 12,026.41. The main losers are Punj Lloyd (3.41%), Praj Industries (2.08%), BHEL (1.82%) and L&T (1.38%).

BSE Realty index slipped by 146.06 points to 4,853.93. The major losers are Ansal Infra (6.35%), India Bull Real (4.35%), HDIL (3.05%) and DLF (3.93%).

BSE Metal index dropped by 135.96 points at 11,018.04 as Sesa Goa (3.34%), SAIL (2.57%), Tata Steel (1.66%) and NALCO (1.94%) are trading in red.

BSE Bankex index is trading lower by 103.73 points at 7,221.62. Losers are ICICI Bank (4.06%), SBI (3.52%), Kotak Bank (2.53%) and HDFC Bank (2.10%).

BSE IT index declined by 39.38 points to trade at 3,987.54 as HCL Technologies (4.08%), TCS (1.31%), Satyam Computer (1.25%) and Wipro (0.90%) trading in negative.

BSE Power index declined by 62.05 points to 2,593.19. Losers are Suzlon Energy (5.48%), Tata Power (2.87%), Torent Power (2.19%) and GVK Power (1.54%).

BSE Auto index decreased by 23.62 points to 3,976.77. The top losers are Maruti Suzuki (1.02%), Bajaj Auto (1.02%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (0.94%).
