Mid Session Market - Sep 15, 2008

The markets have lost further grounds and are trading in deep red as lack of buying is seen across the board. The huge beating is seen among the heavyweights stocks. The Mid Cap and the Small Cap stocks are also trading in line with the benchmark index with a cut of 6% each. The BSE Sensex is now hovering around the 13200 mark while the NSE Nifty has slipped below the 4000 mark. The huge selling is seen among the Realty, IT, Power, Metal and Banking sectors.

The Indian Rupee is now trading around 45.92 to a dollar after the rupee hits the 46 per dollar mark in early trade. The Crude is now trading around the $99 a barrel on the NYMEX.

The global news is not supporting the market today. On the global market front, Lehman Brothers is likely to file for bankruptcy in US today. AIG is seeking $40 billion loan from Federal Reserve to raise capital. Further, Bank of America to buy Merill Lynch at a premium $29 per share as compared to the last closing price of $17 per share.

The overall market breadth remains negative as 199 stocks are advancing while 2214 stocks are declining and the 44 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

The BSE Mid cap is lower by 333.65 points at 5,203.49 and the BSE small Cap slipped by 389.81 points to trade at 6,321.73.

At 12.30 pm, BSE Sensex was at 13,224.88 down by 775.93 points and the NSE Nifty was at 3,973.80 down by 254.65 points.

BSE Capital goods index dropped by 673.82 points to 11,162.76. The main losers are Siemens (9.20%), Praj Industries (8.93%), Punj Lloyd (8.07%) and ABB (6.37%).

BSE Metal index dropped by 693.28 points at 10,188.14 as Sterlite Industries (8.90%), Ispat Industries (8.73%), Gujarat NRE (6.54%) and Sesa Goa (6.66%) are trading in red.

BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 485.97 points lower at 8,630.47 as Essar Oil (13.14%), RNRL (10.18%), Cairn India (8.26%), ONGC (6.53%) and RPL (5.16%) are trading in negative.

BSE Realty index slipped by 462.63 points to 4,231.09. The major losers are Ansal Infra (12.95%), HDIL (12.25%), India Bull Real (10.88%) and Unitech (10.51%).

BSE Bankex index is trading lower by 458.52 points at 6,570.70. Losers are IDBI Bank (10.35%), PNB (7.03%), Kotak Bank (6.15%) and ICICI Bank (6.26%).

BSE IT index declined by 282.79 points to trade at 3,523.95 as Patni Computer (9.95%), Satyam Computer (9.73%), HCL Technologies (7.27%) and TCS (7.07%) trading in negative.

BSE Power index declined by 180.34 points to 2,366.19. Losers are Torent Power (9.37%), Reliance Power (8.44%), GVK Power (8.54%) and Suzlon Energy (6.44%).

BSE Auto index decreased by 160.55 points to 3,791.28. The top losers are Tata Motors (6.25%), Ashok Leyland (4.93%), Mahindra & Mahindra (3.86%) and Maruti Suzuki (3.18%)
