Mid Session Market - Sep 16, 2008

The markets have gained some grounds from the day’s low as some buying is seen among the beaten down sectors. However the markets, are still trading lower with the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty both are trading with a cut of more than 2% each, All the sectorial indices are trading in red. The BSE Realty has underperformed all the sectorial indices and is trading down at more than 6%. The huge selling pressure is among the Consumer Durables, Metal, Pharma, IT, Power and Banking stocks.

The Mid Cap and the Small Cap stocks with a cut of more than 3% each. The BSE Sensex is now hovering around the 13200 mark, while the NSE Nifty around the 4000 mark.

The Indian Rupee is now trading around 45.94 to a dollar after the rupee breached the 46 per dollar mark in early trade.

The overall market breadth remains negative as 367 stocks are advancing while 2052 stocks are declining and the 45 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

The BSE Mid cap is lower by 153.89 points at 5,134.70 and the BSE small Cap slipped by 182.59 points to trade at 6,197.88.

At 12.30 pm, BSE Sensex was at 13,266.59 down by 264.68 points and the NSE Nifty was at 4,007.05 down by 65.85 points.

BSE Metal index dropped by 384.41 points at 10,006.43 as Sesa Goa (8.27%), Gujarat NRE (8.20%), Jindal Steel (6.87%) and Ispat Industries (5.20%) are trading in red.

BSE Capital goods index dropped by 282.58 points to 11,084.34. The main losers are Gammon India (4.86%), AIA Engineering (4.47%), Praj Industries (4.01%) and L&T (2.60%).

BSE Realty index slipped by 274.80 points to 4,059.72. The major losers are India Bull Real (6.82%), HDIL (6.95%), Unitech (5.75%) and DLF (5.69%).

BSE Bankex index is trading lower by 174.55 points at 6,617.47. Losers are ICICI Bank (6.83%), Kotak Bank (3.81%), Indus Ind Bank (3.33%) and AXIS Bank (1.10%).

BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 118.64 points lower at 8,695.82 as RNRL (4.07%), Cairn India (3.97%), Essar Oil (2.02%), RPL (1.33%) and ONGC (1.25%) are trading in negative.

BSE IT index declined by 107.77 points to trade at 3,849.06 as Mphasis (5.57%), Satyam Computer (6.87%), Wipro (4.61%) and Tech Mahindra (4.14%) trading in negative.

BSE Power index declined by 63.17 points to 2,371.90. Losers are GVK Power (5.22%), Suzlon Energy (5.07%), Torent Power (3.85%) and Reliance Infra. (3.45%).

BSE Auto index decreased by 33.32 points to 3,847.25. The top losers are Mahindra & Mahindra (3.53%), Ashok Leyland (3.28%), Maruti Suzuki (1.89%) and Bajaj Auto (1.13%)
