The markets are trading with a cautious note today. The investors are not showing any enthu and preferred to stay on the side lines ahead of the crucial inflation number to be announced after the market hours today. Most of the sectorial indices are trading in red mainly led by the Realty, Oil & Gas, Metal, Power and Capital Goods stocks. However, the buying is seen among the pharma and IT stocks. The BSE Sensex is trading below the 14500 mark and the NSE Nifty below the 4500 mark. The BSE Mid Cap and the BSE Small Cap however moved into the positive territory.
The overall market breadth is positive as 1194 stocks are advancing while 1125 stocks are declining and the 75 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.
The BSE Mid cap is higher by 7.63 points at 5,844.64 and the BSE small Cap advanced by 5.73 points to trade at 6,988.12.
At 12.30 pm, BSE Sensex was at 14,909.52 down by 140.34 points and the NSE Nifty was at 4,457.45 down by 46.55 points.
BSE Bankex index is trading marginally higher by 0.97 points at 7,447.49. Gainers are ICICI bank (2.12%), PNB (0.82%), Kotak Bank (0.70%) and IDBI Bank (0.46%).
BSE IT index inclined by 0.39 points to trade at 4,067.32 as Tech Mahindra (1.70%), I-Flex (1.64%), Mphasis (1.23%) and HCL Technologies (1.22%) trading in positive.
BSE Metal index declined by 183.87 points at 12,197.78 as Sterlite Industries (3.75%), SAIL (2.59%), Gujarat NRE (2.36%) and JSW Steel (2.55%) are trading in red.
BSE Capital goods index slipped by 124.34 points to 12,178.90. The main losers are ABB (1.57%), Siemens (1.28%), Punj Lloyd (0.84%) and L&T (0.41%).
BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 160.90 points lower at 9,865.06 as ONGC (2.66%), Essar Oil (1.39%), RNRL (1.25%) and RPL (0.63%) are trading in negative.
BSE Realty index dropped by 158.57 points to 5,208.70. The major losers are India Bull Real (7.18%), HDIL (3.05%), Unitech (2.56%) and Ansal Infra (2%).
BSE Auto index decreased by 15.36 points to 4,022.21. The top losers are Ashok Leyland (2.21%), Bajaj Auto (1.18%), Tata Motors (1.13%) and Mahindra & Mahindra (0.18%).
BSE Power index decreased by 32.76 points to 2,653.65. Losers are Power Grid (1.44%), NTPC (1.21%), Suzlon Energy (1.15%) and Reliance Power (0.44%)
