The markets tough managed to recover slightly from the day’s low but are still trading lower as selling continued across the board. Further the weak Asian markets also added to the sentiments. The most selling pressure is seen among the Banking, Metal, Consumer Durables, Realty, Auto and Capital Goods stocks. The BSE Sensex is now hovering around the 14800 mark and the NSE Nifty above the 4400 mark. The BSE Mid Cap and the BSE Small Cap are also trading lower.
The overall market breadth remains negative as 994 stocks are advancing while 1325 stocks are declining and the 85 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.
The BSE Mid cap is lower by 23.26 points at 5,796.63 and the BSE small Cap slipped by 16.39 points to trade at 6,966.38.
At 12.30 pm, BSE Sensex was at 14,823.70 down by 121.27 points and the NSE Nifty was at 4,450.30 down by 32 points.
BSE Metal index dropped by 164.98 points at 11,850.06 as Sterlite Industries (5.41%), Gujarat NRE (3.16%), Jindal Steel (1.21%) and NALCO (1.19%) are trading in red.
BSE Capital goods index slipped by 131.79 points to 12,292.23. The main losers are BHEL (2.32%), BEML (1.88%), Praj Industries (1.53%) and Punj Lloyd (1.26%).
BSE Bankex index is trading lower by 128.25 points at 7,335.99. Losers are Bank of India (3.36%), IDBI Bank (2.15%), ICICI Bank (2.12%) and Kotak Bank (1.85%).
BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 95.76 points lower at 9,752.30 as Essar Oil (1.30%), Cairn India (1.08%), RNRL (0.42%) and RPL (0.41%) are trading in negative.
BSE Realty index slipped by 59.66 points to 5,077.34. The major losers are India Bull Real (1.66%), DLF (1.38%), Omaxe Ltd. (1.29%) and Mahindra Life (1.17%).
BSE Power index declined by 28.15 points to 2,687.51. Losers are Tata Power (1.99%), Torent Power (1.79%), GVK Power (0.62%) and Reliance Power (0.50%).
BSE IT index declined by 37.68 points to trade at 3,993.75 as HCL Technologies (1.85%), Mphasis (1.82%), Satyam Computer (1.17%) and Infosys Technologies (0.63%) trading in negative.
BSE Auto index decreased by 43.96 points to 4,008.19. The top losers are Tata Motors (4.03%), Hero Honda (3.93%), Bharat Forge (1.95%) and Mahindra & Mahindra (1.35%).
