The markets after a strong start have cools down a bit and have now started gaining momentum from the day’s low as significant buying is seen among the selective scrips mainly led by the Realty, Oil & Gas, IT Power stocks. However, the FMCG, Capital Goods, Pharma, Auto, Banking and Metal stocks are trading lower.
The BSE Sensex is trading below the 11900 mark and the NSE Nifty is below the 3700. The BSE Mid Cap and the BSE Small Cap stocks are also trading lower with a cut of more than 1.5% each.
On the global market front, the Asian markets are trading lower as Nikkei 225 index trading down by 3.03% and Hang Seng index down by 4.97%.
The overall market breadth is negative as 741 stocks are advancing while 1570 stocks are declining and the 75 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.
Ranbaxy Lab. reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack as it was trading up by (4.18%) at Rs.256.75 while ITC the top loser down by (4.94%) at Rs.171.20.
The BSE Mid cap is lower by 58.33 points at 4,285.90 and the BSE small Cap slipped by 77.31 points to trade at 5,009.62.
At 12.31 pm, BSE Sensex was at 11,882.70 up by 81 points and the NSE Nifty was at 3,655.15 up by 52.80 points.
BSE Metal index dropped by 90.49 points at 7,546.16 as JSW Steel (8.82%), Jindal Saw (7.36%), Sterlite Industries (5.77%), Ispat Industries (4.38%) and Gujarat NRE (3.58%) are trading in red.
BSE Bankex index is trading lower by 133.42 points at 6,038.58. Losers are Kotak Bank (6.60%), HDFC Bank (3.65%), AXIS Bank (2.98%) and SBI (2.01%).
BSE Auto index declined by 32.28 points to 3,494.12. Leading to its fall are Maruti Suzuki (3.47%), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.68%), Bajaj Auto (1.63%) and Ashok Leyland (0.38%).
BSE Oil & Gas index is trading 87.95 points higher at 7,997.45 as Gail India (4.54%), ONGC (3.97%), Indian Oil (0.80%) are trading in positive while Aban Offshore (10.69%), Cairn iNdia (3.40%) and HPCL (2.31%) are trading in negative.
BSE Capital goods index slipped by 293.12 points to 9,201.81. The main losers are L&T (4.64%), Havells India (4.30%), Bharat Electrical (4.35%), Punj Lloyd (2.63%).
BSE IT index inclined by 18.82 points to trade at 2,948.07 as HCL Technologies (2.20%), Wipro (2.19%), Infosys Technologies (1.38%) are trading in positive.
BSE Power index was trading 11.23 points higher at 2,077.54. The main gainers are Reliance Power (3.34%),.NTPC (3.32%), Crompton Greaves (2.97%), Suzlon Energy (0.55%).
BSE Realty index advanced by 11.77 points to 3,011.76. The major gainers are DLF (3.70%), Unitech (3.46%), Omaxe Ltd. (1.05%) and Parsavnath (0.82%).
