Mid Sesion Market - Nov 07, 2008

The markets are still trading choppy and are swinging in between the positive and negative territory. The markets are desperate to find a direction as traders choose to sit on the sidelines due to the lack of direction from the global markets and also ahead of the weakened. The Oil & Gas, FMCG, Pharma, Power and Capital Goods tocks are on the buyers ride today. However, the Banking, Auo, Realty, IT and Metal stocks are still trading in red.

The BSE Sensex is now trading around the 9,700 mark and the NSE Nifty is hovering around the 2,900 mark.

The overall market breadth is negative as 981 stocks are advancing while 1200 stocks are declining and the 81 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

On the global market front, the Asian Markets are trading mixed as Hang Seng index is trading higher by (0.50%) while Nikkei 225 Index and the Straight Times index trading lower by (3.55%) and (0.45%) respectively.

Hindalco Industries reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack as it was trading higher by (2.12%) at Rs.57.90 while ICICI Bank reported the top loser down by (4.64%) at Rs.414.

The BSE Mid cap is lower by 13.70 points at 3,304.71 and the BSE small Cap slipped by 11.50 points to trade at 3,868.77.

At 12.31 pm, BSE Sensex was at 9,723.43 down by 10.79 points while the NSE Nifty was at 2,908.60 up by 15.94 points.

BSE Metal index dropped by 29.30 points at 4,964.14 as JSW Steel (6.26%), Tata Steel (2.34%), Gujarat NRE (2.53%), Sesa Goa (2.26%) and Jindal Saw (2.50%) are trading in red.

BSE Bankex index is trading lower by 108.93 points at 5,332.83. Losers are Kotak Bank (6.63%), ICICI Bank (4.60%), AXIS Bank (4.14%), SBI (1.67%) and HDFC Bank (1.54%).

BSE Oil & Gas index is trading 113.75 points higher at 5,930.69 as HPCL (7.33%), Indian Oil (5.40%), BPCL (5.12%) and Gail India (3.03%) are trading in positive.

BSE Capital goods index slipped by 19.39 points to 7,494.75. The main losers are Punj Lloyd (5.47%), ABB (3.36%), BHEL (1.34%), Gammon India (0.83%), L&T (0.15%).

BSE IT index declined by 6.07 points to trade at 2,611.73 as Financial Technologies (3.47%), Tech Mahindra (2.45%), Infosys Technologies (1.62%), Satyam Computer (0.54%) and Wipro (0.18%) are trading in negative.

BSE Power index is trading 2 points marginally higher at 1,704.23. The main gainers are Suzlon Energy (7.99%), Torent Power (3.71%), NTPC (1.80%), GVK Power (1.16%) and Reliance Power (1.13%).

BSE Realty index slipped by 23.92 points to 2,256.76. The major losers are DLF (2.53%), India Bull Real (2.52%), HDIL (1.75%) and Penland (1.38%).

BSE Auto declined by 32.42 points to 2,615.80. Leading to its fall are Ashok Leyland (7.14%), Mahindra & Mahindra (3.69%), Tata Motors (2.48%) and Maruti Suzuki (1.44%).
