Mid Session Market - Nov 04, 2008

The markets have made sharp recovery from the day’s lows but are still trading lower. IT, Consumer Durables, Pharma, Auto stocks are facing the most selling pressure. However, the Metal, Banking, Oil & Gas and Capital Goods are on the buyers ride today. The BSE Mid Cap and the BSE Small Cap stocks are however trading higher.

The BSE Sensex is now hovering above the 10,200 mark and the NSE Nifty is above the 3,000 mark.

The overall market breadth is positive as 1405 stocks are advancing while 906 stocks are declining and the 64 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

On the global market front, the Asian Markets are trading mixed as Hang Seng index is trading higher by (0.51%) and the Nikkei 225 Index surged by (6.27%). While Straight Times index and Shanghai Composite are trading lower by (0.82%) and (0.76%) respectively.

Ranbaxy Lab. reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack as it was trading higher by (6.33%) at Rs.202.40 while Satyam Computer reported the top loser down by (5.36%) at Rs.284.

The BSE Mid cap is higher by 23.75 points at 3,379.29 and the BSE small Cap advanced by 37.05 points to trade at 3,964.15.

At 12.31 pm, BSE Sensex was at 10,269.60 down by 68.07 points and the NSE Nifty was at 3,033 down by 10.85 points.

BSE Metal index improved by 80.05 points at 5,702.42 as JSW Steel (6.86%), Gujarat NRE (6.82%), NALCO (3.09%), Sesa Goa (1.86%) and Tata Steel (1.44%) are trading in green.

BSE Bankex index is trading higher by 150 points at 5,537.39. Gainers are Bank of Baroda (6.51%), PNB (4.35%), Kotak Bank (4.18%), AXIS Bank (3.29%) and SBI (3.13%).

BSE Oil & Gas index is trading 47.61 points higher at 6,594.73 as ONGC (6.56%), BPCL (4.59%), HPCL (3.72%) and Aban Offshore (3.90%) are trading in positive.

BSE Capital goods index advanced by 102.54 points to 7,694.76. The main gainers are Praj Industries (13.22%), Siemens (6.85%), Havells India (2.06%), BHEL (1.67%) and Gammon India (1.45%).

BSE IT index declined by 84.67 points to trade at 2,789.69 as Satyam Computer (5.03%), Wipro (4.54%), Infosys Technologies (3.61%), Mphasis (3.10%) and HCL Technologies (3.61%) are trading in negative.

BSE Power index was trading 30.64 points higher at 1,716.63. The main gainers are Suzlon Energy (15.23%),.GVK Power (10.14%), Tata Power (3.71%) and Torent Power (2.59%).

BSE Realty index improved by 53.42 points to 2,195.70. The major gainers are India Bull Real (6.77%), Unitech (4.18%), Ansal Infra (4.18%) and Penland (3.83%).

BSE Auto declined by 13.57 points to 2,732.25. Leading to its fall are Tata Motors (4.53%), Bajaj Auto (3.57%) and Mahindra & Mahindra (1.99%).
