Mid Day Market Commentary

Market was trading firm but within the range. Overall market breadth was strong as 1737 stocks advanced while 612 stocks declined and 69 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

At 12.41 pm, BSE sensex was at 13631.80 up by 247.72 points and Nifty was at 3995.85 up by 78.5 points. BSE Mid cap also inclined by 89.35 points to trade at 5665.85 and BSE small cap by 127.09 points to trade at 6883.55.

BSE IT index grew 77.14 points to trade at 5148.86 as Wipro (2.79%), TCS (1.66%), Infosys (1.55%), HCL (0.88%) and Satyam (0.69%) are trading in green.

BSE Metal index increased 152.17 points to 9455.82 as Hindalco (2.00%), Tata Steel (1.98%) and SAIL (1.03%) were trading in green while NALCO declined by 0.33% and was trading in red.

BSE capital goods index inclined 213.84 points to trade at 9684.81 as BHEL (2.06%), Siemens (1.57%), L&T (1.54%) and ABB (0.71%) were trading higher.

BSE Banks index inclined 88.23 points to trade at 6728.07; PNB (1.66%), ICICI Bank (1.49%), SBI (1.05%) and HDFC Bank (0.59%) were all trading in positive territory.

BSE auto index rose 60.08 points to trade at 4878.24 as M&M (1.81%), Tata Motors (1.61%), Maruti (1.17%), Bajaj Auto (0.89%) and Hero Honda (0.83%) were trading higher.

BSE Oil & gas index was trading 132.08 points up at 6697.53 as IPCL up (2.52%) followed by ONGC (1.86%), GAIL (0.75%), HPCL (0.77%) and RPL (0.41%) while BPCL was down by 0.89%.

BSE Health Care index inclined by 30.36 points to trade at 3716.97 as Ranbaxy (2.18%), Dr. Reddy (0.36%) and Sun pharma (0.35%) were trading higher.

BSE FMCG index grew 28.17 points to trade at 1802.13 as ITC grew by 2.57% followed by HLL and Dabur by 0.77% and 0.54% respectively.
