Post Session Market Commentary

After opening flat to lower note, the market traded in green during the whole trading session on back of selective buying in stocks across the sectors. Finally, BSE Sensex closed at 12856.08 with gain of 69.31 points or 0.54%. The NSE Nifty advanced 18.75 points or 0.50% to close at 3752. Overall, the market breadth was strong as 1531 stocks were closed in green whereas 845 stocks were ended up in red zone in BSE.

BSE Mid cap and BSE Small cap indices followed the trend of benchmark index, as BSE mid cap grew by 39.88 points at 5319.95 and the BSE small cap grew 69.89 points at 6456.37.

BSE Metal index closed 3.07% up at 8623.65 as Tata Steel soared by (5.69%) followed by Hindalco advanced by (1.27%).

BSE FMCG index closed at 1720.46 up by 0.43% as HLL grew by (1.14%).

BSE Capital goods index inclined by 0.48% at 8955.49 as BHEL (0.81%), ABB (1.58%), Siemens (1.21%) and Suzlon (1.14%) ended in green.

BSE oil & gas index closed at 6369.70 down by 0.03% as ONGC (0.38%) and RIL (0.67%) ended red.

BSE IT index closed 0.15% up at 4821.52 as Satyam (0.43%) , Wipro (0.59%) and HCL tech (0.24%) closed up while Infosys and TCS closed down.

BSE bank index grew by 1.89% at 6371.69: OBC, PNB, HDFC, ICICI Bank and HDFC bank ended in green by 5.58%, 3.62%, 2.02%, 2.01% and 1.63% respectively.

BSE Auto Index increased by 0.30% at 4605.70 as Maruti Udyog (1.01%), Tata motors (0.6%) and M&M (0.27%) ended in green.

BSE Health Care Index closed at 3647.02 with an incline of 0.03% as Cipla (1.44%) and Ranbaxy labs (0.52%) closed up.
