Mid Day Market Commentary

Market was trading with modest gains on back of selective buying interest seen across the sectoral index. The overall market breadth was strong as 1358 stocks advanced and 744 stocks declined on BSE.

At 12.42 pm, BSE sensex was at 12820.91 up by 34.14 points and Nifty was at 3743.65 up by 10.4 points. BSE Mid cap inclined by 35.75 points to trade at 5315.82 and BSE small cap surged by 69.02 points to trade at 6455.50.

BSE Metal index surged 240.66 points to trade at 8607.42 as Tata Steel (5.74%) and Hindalco (1.61%) were trading in green.

BSE Banks index was rising 40.38 points to trade at 6293.99; SBI Bank (1.11%), HDFC Bank (0.55%) and ICICI Bank (0.48%) were advancing.

BSE capital goods index inclined 41.09 points to trade at 8953.41 as Siemens (1.40%), and suzlon (0.87%) were trading in green.

BSE IT index was adding 4.78 points at 4819.02 as HCL Tech (0.28%),TCS (0.13%) trading up while Infosys (0.19%), Satyam (0.12%) and Wipro (0.04%) trading in red.

BSE auto index was gaining 17.98 points at 4609.90 as Tata Motors (1.2%), Maruti Udyog (1.01%) were rising where as Hero Honda Motors (1.38%) and Bajaj Auto (0.45%) were declining.

BSE Oil & gas index was trading 12.89 points down at 6358.43 as ONGC (0.56%) and RIL (0.38%) were trading down.

BSE FMCG index was up 6.59 points to trade at 1719.70 as HLL inclined by (1.59%) while ITC declined by (0.27%).

BSE Health Care index inclined by 17.97 points to trade at 3663.96 as Cipla up (0.81%) and Ranbaxy up (0.64%) where as Dr. Reddy down (0.97%).
