After opening on a negative note, the market keeps on trading in red during the whole trading session. Finally, BSE Sensex closed at 13,113.81 with a decline of 69.43 points or 0.53%. The NSE Nifty closed at 3829.85 down by 32.8 points 0.85%. Overall, the market breadth was weak as 1466 stocks ended up in red zone whereas 1090 stocks were closed in green in BSE.
BSE Mid cap and BSE Small cap indices at last followed the trend of benchmark index, as BSE mid cap declined by 4.66 points at 5512.40 and the BSE small cap slipped by 28.98 points at 6682.53.
BSE FMCG index closed at 1788.37 down by 23.21points as ITC declined by 2.74% where as Dabur grew by 1.02% and HLL increased by 0.93%.
BSE Capital goods index declined by 71.20 points at 9271.18 as BHEL (0.98%), ABB (0.56%) and L&T (0.89%) ended in red where as Siemens 0.97% closed in green.
BSE oil & gas index closed at 6472.99 down by 67.72 points as ONGC (3.13%), BPCL (1.80%), and HPCL (1.92%) closed lower in red.
BSE Metal index closed lower by 208.86 points at 9122.01 as Tata Steel (3.11%) followed by Nalco (2.29%), GAIL (2.68%), SAIL (1.67%), Hindalco (1.51%) ended in red zone.
BSE IT index closed up at 4879.59 as Satyam advanced by 1.02%, Infosys 2.57%, TCS 0.88% ended in green where as Wipro (1.25%) closed in red.
BSE bank index closed in negative by 82.60 points at 6470.32: ICICI Bank (1.17%), HDFC bank (2.26%), PNB (0.85%), SBI (1.36%) and OBC (2.03%) closed in red.
BSE Auto Index decreased by 19.79 points at 4680.55 as Hero Honda (1.89%), Maruti (2.86%) and Tata Motors (1.63%) ended in red whereas Bajaj (3.03%) ended in green.
