Post Session Market Commentary

The markets have lost grip and slipped to end the trading session in a negative territory on the back of profit booking by the investors. Finally, BSE Sensex closed at 13,607.04 with a decline of 88.54 points. The NSE Nifty closed at 3984.95 down by 28.4 points. Overall, the market breadth was week as 1463 stocks ended up in red zone whereas 1085 stocks were closed in green in BSE.

BSE Mid cap and BSE Small cap indices followed the trend of benchmark index, as BSE mid cap declined by 44.70 points to close at 5621.25 and the BSE small cap down by 21.60 points to end at 6862.53.

BSE FMCG index closed at 1800.49 down by 19.99 points as ITC (1.61%), HLL (1.33%) ended in red whereas Dabur 0.16% ended in green.

BSE Capital goods index declined by 57 points at 9688.82 as Siemens (1.73%), ABB (0.21%), BHEL (0.19%) closed in negative whereas L&T 0.56% closed in positive.

BSE oil & gas index closed at 6826.30 up by 56.86 points as HPCL 4.54%, Essar oil 4.81%, BPCL 3.45%, IOCL 3.12% and IPCL 0.95% ended in green while ONGC (0.98%) closed in red.

BSE Metal index closed lower by 123.27 points at 9,437.31 as SAIL (3.17%), Hindalco (0.97%),Tata Steel (0.89%) and Nalco (0.48%) closed in red.

BSE IT index fell by 127.65 points to closed at 5022.63 as Satyam declined by (4.89%) TCS (2.39%), HCL Tech (2.22%), Infosys (2.19%) and Wipro (2.11%) closed in red.

BSE bank index grew by 15.69 points at 6738.50 as OBC 1.88%, HDFC Bank 0.23%, ICICI Bank 0.17% and IDBI Bank 0.06% closed in green whereas PNB (0.10%), and SBI (0.50%) closed in red.

BSE Auto Index decreased by 23.54 points at 4865.27 as Tata Motors (2.64%), Maruti (2.02%) and M&M (1.70%) closed in negative while Bajaj Auto grew by 2.71%.

BSE Health Care Index closed at 3704.92 down by 20.65 points as Cipla (2.34%) and Ranbaxy (0.49%) closed in red zone whereas GSK 1.51% and Dr. Reddy 0.46% closed in green.
