Post Session Market Commentary

Though the market opened firm it was highly volatile through out the trading session and closed flat with marginal gains. The BSE Sensex ended the trading session with a growth of 30.92 points at 13,928.33 while Nifty closed up by 1.55 points to close at 4,085.10 .Of the 2,630 stocks traded on BSE 1164 advanced, 1383 declined and 83 stocks ended unchanged.

The BSE Mid cap closed up by 3.36 points to settle at 5,702.44 while BSE Small cap declined 3.45 points to close at 6,970.92.

BSE Metal index surged by 194.56 points to close at 9,896.84 as SAIL 0.97%, Tata Steel 4.35%, Nalco 0.02% and Hindalco 0.92% closed in green.

BSE bank index fell 32.53 points to 6881.84 as IDBI Bank (2.52%), PNB (1.47%), SBI (1.36%) and HDFC Bank (0.73%) closed in red whereas ICICI Bank 0.27% closed in green.

BSE Health Care Index closed at 3,739.89 down by 53.10 points as Sun Pharma (11.20%) and Cipla (0.43%) ended in red whereas GSK 1.59% and Dr. Reddy 0.28%, ended in green.

BSE oil & gas index closed at 7,102.89 up by 50.81 points as ONGC 1.27% and IPCL 1.38% closed in positive whereas IOCL (0.73%), HPCL (0.71%), Essar oil (0.27%) and BPCL (0.11%) ended in negative zone.

BSE IT index closed higher by 7.77 points to close at 5062.86 as Satyam 0.93% and Infosys 0.60% closed in green while HCL Tech (1.83%), TCS (0.78%) and Wipro (0.67%) closed in red.

BSE FMCG index closed at 1,782.38 down by 29.33 points as ITC declined by (2.62%), followed by HLL (1.61%) and Dabur (0.05%).

BSE Capital goods index declined by 27.08 points to close at 9,770.82 as Siemens (0.55%) ended in red whereas ABB 1.48%, L&T 0.40%, and BHEL 0.07% closed in green.

BSE Auto Index decreased by 28.43 points at 4802.91 as M&M (1.71%), Bajaj (1.36%), Maruti (1.15%) and Tata Motors (0.72%) ended in red while Hero Honda 0.75% ended in green.
