Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex closed with a decline of 113.79 points at 13,765.46 while Nifty closed lower by 34.15 points at 4,077. Of the 2635 stocks traded on BSE, 1,692 declined while 873 advanced. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed lower by 64.54 points and 80.86 points to settle at 5,779.82 and 6,939.25 respectively.

BSE Metal index declined by 13.73 points to close at 9,932.54 as Jindal Stainless (2.95%) and Hindalco (0.07%) closed lower while NALCO (1.85%), SAIL (0.67%) and Tata Steel (0.23%) closed in green.

BSE Bank index down by 68.03 points to close at 6,752.64 as SBI (3.36%), HDFC bank (1%) and ICICI Bank (0.35%) ended in red while PNB (0.70%) ended in green.

BSE Auto Index closed lower by 59 points at 4,980.06 as Hero Honda (3.51%), M&M (1.86%), Maruti (0.59%) and Tata Motors (0.34%) ended in red.

BSE Health Care Index closed at 3,697.17 down by 39.35 points as GSK (2.61%), Dr.Reddy (1.75%) and Cipla (1.35%) closed in red.

BSE oil & gas index closed lower by 72.06 points at 7,249.34 as HPCL (2.15%), BPCL (2.01%), Reliance petroleum (1.30%) and IPCL (0.31%) closed in red.

BSE IT index closed at 4,932.89 down by 80.58 points as Infosys (1.79%), HCL Tech. (1.62%), Wipro (1.51%) and Satyam (0.85%) closed in red.

BSE FMCG index closed marginally down by 6.25 points at 1,806.15 as Dabur (1.81%), ITC (0.50%) and HLL (0.49%) ended in red.

BSE Capital goods index closed at 9,899.72 down by 26.06 points as BHEL (0.96%) ended in red while Siemens (1.49%) and ABB (0.27%) closed in green.
