Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex closed the session with gains of 16.05 points at 13,781.51 while Nifty closed by adding 2.3 points at 4,079.30. Of the 2633 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,405 declined while 1,124 advanced. The action in several counters towards the end saw the index surge to an intra day high of 13,806.37. The BSE Mid cap closed higher by 12.33 points at 5,792.15 while Small cap closed lower by 20.65 points to settle at 6,918.60.

BSE Capital goods index closed at 9,945.29 up by 45.57 points as Siemens (2.52%) closed in green while BHEL (0.91%) and ABB (0.50%) ended in red .

BSE Metal index closed up by 34.35 points at 9966.89 as Tata Steel (1.64%) and NALCO (0.41%) closed in green while SAIL (1.55%) and Hindalco (0.31%) closed red.

BSE Bank index up by 98.71 points to close at 6851.35 as IDBI (4.72%), SBI (3.83%), PNB (2.14%), ICICI Bank (0.91%) and HDFC bank (0.64%) ended in green.

BSE Auto index closed higher by 27 points at 5007.06 as Hero Honda (3.20%), Bajaj (1.24%) ended in green whereas M&M (0.50%) and Tata Motors (0.29%) ended in red.

BSE Health Care index closed at 3,700.56 grew by 3.39 points as GSK (1.26%) ended in green while Cipla (1.75%) and Ranbaxy (1.14%) closed in red.

BSE oil & gas index closed lower by 18.65 points at 7,230.69 as GAIL (4.16%)and BPCL 1.49% closed in red while HPCL 1.38% and Reliance petroleum (0.13%) closed in green.

BSE IT index closed at 4,887.62 down by 45.27 points as HCL Tech. (1.49%), Infosys (1.09%)and Satyam (0.81%) closed in red.

BSE FMCG index closed marginally down by 2.15 points at 1,804 as HLL (1.77%) and Dabur (0.42%) closed in red while ITC (0.47%) ended in green.
