Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex closed the session with a gain of 24.93 points at 13,796.16 while Nifty closed higher by 19.5 points at 4,085.90. Of the 2625 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,282 declined while 1,266 advanced. The BSE Mid cap closed higher by 35.15 points at 5,851.27 while Small cap grew by 32.91 points to settle at 6,984.40 respectively.

BSE Capital goods index closed at 9,871.53 marginally down by 2.15 points as BHEL (0.12%) ended in red while Siemens 1.18% and ABB 0.66% ended in green.

BSE Metal index declined by 40.99 points at 10,065.76 as Hindalco (1.40%) and Tata Steel (1.25%) closed in negative while SAIL 0.56% closed in green.

BSE bank index closed up by 41.20 points at 6,905.10 as SBI 2.29%, PNB 1.48% and ICICI bank 0.73% ended in green while HDFC bank (0.92%) ended in red.

BSE Auto Index closed higher by 25.54 points at 5,022.87 as Bajaj 4.20% and Tata Motors 0.14% ended in green while M&M (3.03%) ended in red.

BSE Health Care Index closed at 3,679.91 down by 17.32 points as Sun Pharma (1.82%), Cipla (1.44%) and Dr. Reddy lab (0.91%) ended in red while Ranbaxy 1.26% and GSK 0.18% ended in green.

BSE oil & gas index closed higher by 32.29 points at 7,188.67 as Reliance petroleum 7.74% IPCL 0.67% and BPCL 0.61% ended in green while HPCL (0.38%) and GAIL (0.18%) closed in red.

BSE IT index closed at 4,878.17up by 45.95 points as HCL Tech. 1.66%, Infosys 1.40% closed higher while Wipro (1.17%) and Satyam (0.39)% closed in red.

BSE FMCG index closed lower by 20.53 points at 1,798.86 as HLL (2.39%), ITC (0.86%) and Dabur (0.85%) closed in red
