Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex closed the session with a gain of 169.70 points at 13,965.86 while Nifty closed higher by 57.65 points at 4,134.30. Of the 2642 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,645 advanced while 909 declined. The BSE Mid cap closed higher by 89.82 points at 5,941.09 while Small cap grew by 95.43 points to settle at 7,079.83 respectively.

BSE Capital goods index closed at 9982.53 surged by 111 points as ABB 1.67% and BHEL 1.11% ended in green while Siemens (0.17%) ended in red.

BSE Metal index inclined by 196.27 points at 10262.03 as Tata Steel 3.86%, SAIL 1.48% and Hindalco 1.45% are closed in green while NALCO (1.91%) ended in red.

BSE bank index closed up by 169.13 points at 7074.23 as SBI 4.92%, PNB 4.35% and ICICI bank 2.53% ended in green while HDFC bank (0.19%) ended in red.

BSE Auto Index closed lower by 1.79 points at 5,021.08 as Bajaj (1.86%) and Tata Motors (0.20%) ended in red while Maruti Udyog (1.07%) and M&M (1.09%) closed in green.

BSE Health Care Index closed at 3,710.86 up by 30.95 points as Cipla (3%), GSK (3.81%), Sun Pharma (1.21%) and Ranbaxy (1.04%) ended in green while Dr. Reddy lab (4.71%) ended in red.

BSE oil & gas index closed higher by 166 points at 7,354.67 as Reliance petroleum (6.37%), GAIL (3.34%), BPCL (2.45%), IPCL (1.16%) and HPCL (0.59%) closed in green.

BSE IT index closed at 4,939 .40 up by 15.28 points as Satyam (1.55%) and TCS (0.27%) closed in green while Wipro (0.33%) closed in red.

BSE FMCG index closed in green by 13.74 points at 1,812.60 as HLL (3.56%) ended in positive while Dabur (3.23%) closed in negative.
