Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex closed the session with a decline of 36.53 points at 13,929.33 while Nifty closed lower by 14 points at 4,120.34. Of the 2,679 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,330 stocks advanced while 1,269 stocks declined. The BSE Mid cap closed higher by 14.26 points at 5,955.35 while Small cap grew by 23.05 points to settle at 7,102.88 respectively.

BSE Capital goods index closed lower by 48.47 points at 9,934.06 as ABB (1.44%) ended in red while BHEL 2.54% and Siemens 1.38% ended in green.

BSE Metal index closed at 10,254.33 down by 7.70 points as NALCO (1.98%) and Hindalco (0.99%) closed in red while SAIL 0.33% and Tata Steel 0.10% closed in green.

BSE bank index closed higher by 116.77 points at 7,191 as PNB 2.10%, ICICI bank 1.96%, SBI 1.73% and HDFC bank 1.43% ended in green.

BSE Auto Index closed lower by 24.10 points at 4,996.98 as M&M (1.78%), Bajaj (1.23%) closed in red while Hero Honda 1.12% and Maruti Udyog 0.30% closed in green.

BSE Health Care Index closed at 3,713.56 marginally up by 2.70 points as Sun Pharma 1.57%, Dr. Reddy lab 0.95% and Cipla 0.14% closed higher while GSK (1.43%) ended lower.

BSE oil & gas index closed in negative by 63.89 points at 7,290.78 as ONGC (1.80%) and IPCL (0.64%) ended in red while HPCL 4.59% and BPCL 2.28% closed in green.

BSE IT index closed at 4,873.19 down by 66.21 points as Satyam (2%), Wipro (1.80%), Infosys (1.48%) and TCS (1.02%) closed in red.

BSE FMCG index closed higher by 5.12 points at 1,817.72 as Dabur0.56% and HLL 0.55% ended in positive.
