Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex closed marginally up by 3.70 points at 14,303.41 while Nifty closed lower by 5.05 points at 4,214.50. Of the 2,667 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,490 stocks declined while 1,105 stocks advanced. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed higher by 1.16 points and 7.74 points at 6,089.95 and 7,220.30 respectively.

BSE Capital goods index closed higher by 21.52 points at 10,157.44 as ABB (0.80%), Siemens (0.65%) and L&T (0.28%) closed in green while BHEL (0.16%) ended in red.

BSE Metal index closed at 10,242.01 down by 122.82 points as Hindalco (1.51%), SAIL (1.10%), Tata Steel (1.01%)and NALCO (0.93%) ended in red.

BSE bank index closed higher by 65.72 points at 7,603.97 as HDFC bank (3.45%) and ICICI bank (1.60%) closed in green while PNB (1.57%) and SBI (0.18%) ended in red.

BSE Auto Index closed lower by 93.22 points at 4,910.46 as Bajaj (8.54%), Tata motors (1.07%), Maruti Udyog (0.94%) and M&M (0.54%) closed in red.

BSE Health Care Index closed at 3,733.61 up by 1.23 points as Ranbaxy (0.49%) and Cipla (0.38%) closed in green while Dr. Reddy lab (1.79%) closed in red.

BSE oil & gas index closed in positive territory at 7,603.08 up by 23.38 points as HPCL (1.75%), Reliance petroleum (1.71%) and BPCL (0.96%) closed in red while IPCL (1.10%) ended in green.

BSE IT index closed at 4,923.11 up by 8.69 points as HCL (2.01%) and TCS (0.26%) closed higher while Patni Computers (0.14%) and Wipro (0.16%) closed lower.

BSE FMCG index closed higher by 14.40 points at 1,873.08 as Dabur (3.82%) and ITC (1.18%) closed in green while HLL (0.79%) closed in red.
