Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex closed the session with a negative note as it closed lower by 145.15 points at 14,218.11 while Nifty closed at 4,204.90 down by 41.3 points. Of the 2,646 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,527 stocks declined while 1,027 stocks advanced. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed lower by 8.37 points and 35.80 points at 6,100.47 and 7,201.75 respectively.

BSE Capital goods index closed lower by 43.54 points at 10,252.98 as L&T (1.66%) and BHEL (0.35%) closed in red while ABB (2.69%) and Siemens (1.25%) closed in green.

BSE Metal index closed at 10,462.28 down by 172.67 points as Tata Steel (4.14%) and Hindalco (1.34%) closed lower while NALCO (1.64%) and SAIL (1.28%) ended higher.

BSE bank index closed lower by 110.22 points at 7,479.29 as PNB (4.22%), HDFC bank (1.94%), SBI (1.60%) and ICICI bank (0.75%) closed in red.

BSE Auto Index closed at 4,841.56 up by 4.15 points at 4,837.41 as Tata motors (0.57%) closed in green while Bajaj (0.55%), Maruti Udyog (0.51%), Hero Honda (2.41%) and M&M (0.09%) are closed in red.

BSE Health Care Index closed at 3,738.66 down by 19.74 points as Ranbaxy (2.00%), Glaxosmithkline (1.19%), Dr. Reddy lab (0.85%) and Cipla (0.77%) closed in negative.

BSE oil & gas index closed in negative territory at 7,655.33 declined by 113.90 points as HPCL (3.99%), BPCL (3.54%), IPCL (1.52%) and GAIL (0.55%) ended in red while Reliance petroleum (2.16%) closed in green.

BSE IT index closed at 4,838.64 up by 14.51 points as HCL (1.77%), Satyam (0.83%) and Infosys (0.54%) closed in green while TCS (0.68%) and Wipro (0.60%) closed in red.

BSE FMCG index closed higher by 4.55 points at 1,901.96 as HLL by (1.41%) and Dabur (0.98%) closed in green while ITC (0.12%) closed in red.
