The BSE Sensex closed the session with a positive inspiring note as it closed up by 120.34 points at 14,338.45 while Nifty closed at 4,248.15 up by 43.25 points. Of the 2,659 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,414 stocks advanced while 1,156 stocks declined. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed higher by 42.67 points and 64.17 points at 6,143.14 and 7,265.92 respectively.
BSE Capital goods index closed higher by 259.77 points at 10512.75 as L&T (2.20%) closed in green while Siemens (0.33%), BHEL (0.23%) and ABB (0.10%) are closed in red.
BSE Metal index closed at 10,472.80 up by 10.52 points as SAIL (1.09%), NALCO (0.93%) and Hindalco (0.59%) are ended higher while Tata Steel (1.15%) closed lower.
BSE bank index closed lower by 11.91 points at 7467.38 as HDFC bank (1.85%) and PNB (0.42%) closed in negative while SBI (1.05%) and ICICI bank (0.38%) closed in positive.
BSE Auto Index closed at 4,860.08 up by 18.52 points as Tata motors (2.08%) closed in green while M&M (0.41%) and Maruti Udyog (0.14%) closed in red.
BSE Health Care Index closed higher by 7.36 points at 3,746.02 as Glaxosmithkline (0.74%) and Dr. Reddy lab (0.28%) closed in green while Cipla (0.82%) closed in red.
BSE oil & gas index closed in positive territory at 7,685.32 up by 29.99 points as Reliance petroleum (4.08%), GAIL (1.94%) and IPCL (0.26%) closed in positive while HPCL (2.50%) and BPCL (1.65%) closed in negative.
BSE IT index closed at 4,959.36 up by 120.72 points as HCL (3.33%), Satyam (3.48%) and Infosys (2.57%), Wipro (1.99%) and TCS (0.48%) closed in green.
BSE FMCG index closed higher by 10.13 points at 1,912.09 as HLL by (0.92%) and ITC (0.33%) ended in green while Dabur (0.97%) closed in red.
