The BSE Sensex closed the session with a positive inspiring note as it closed up by 110.32 points at 14,508.21 while Nifty closed at 4293.25 up by 36.7 points. Of the 2,672 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1355 stocks advanced while 1212 stocks declined. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed higher by 47.81 points and 53.69 points at 6,254.51 and 7,388.33 respectively.
BSE Capital goods index closed higher by 297.76 points at 10896.14 as BHEL 4.86%, L&T 4.00%, ABB 2.70% and Siemens 1.79% closed in green.
BSE Metal index closed at 10494.25 up by 39.37 points as NALCO 0.76%, Tata Steel 0.52% and Hindalco 0.38% closed higher while SAIL (1.03%) closed lower.
BSE bank index closed higher by 36.71 points at 7600.79 as HDFC bank 1.78% and SBI 1.22% closed in positive whereas ICICI bank (0.16%) and PNB (1.09%) closed in negative.
BSE Auto Index closed at 4,957.53 grew by 39.63 points as M&M (3.30%), Tata motors (1.04%) and Hero Honda (0.52%) closed in green while Maruti Udyog (0.59%) and Bajaj Auto (0.48%) closed in red.
BSE Health Care Index closed higher by 64.44 points at 3,857.53 as Cipla (4.95%), Ranbaxy labs (2.17%) and Dr. Reddy lab (0.21%) closed higher while Glaxosmithkline (1.51%) closed lower.
BSE oil & gas index closed in positive at 7792.63 grew by 91.56 points as IPCL (1.71%) and Reliance petroleum (1.09%) closed in green while BPCL (1.47%), GAIL (1%) and HPCL (0.34%) closed in red.
BSE IT index closed lower at 4,908.15 slipped by 7.10 points as Infosys (0.66%) closed in red while Satyam (0.64%) and TCS (0.54%) closed in green.
BSE FMCG index closed marginally lower by 4.25 points at 1,914.25 as ITC (0.66%) closed in green while HLL (1.05%) and Dabur (0.46%) closed in red.
