Mid Day Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex continued to trade in the negative territory after paring most of the session''s losses. The selling continued in the selective index pivotal. The overall market breadth is negative as 992 stocks are advancing while 1166 stocks are declining and 62 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

At 12.32 pm, BSE sensex was at 14,137.10 down by 49.08 points and Nifty was at 4,165.85 down by 13.65 points. The BSE mid cap is lower by 7.45 points at 6,180.52 and small cap dropped by 2.86 points to 7,388.16.

BSE IT index advanced 49.26 points to trade at 5,006.83 as Satyam (2.47%), Infosys (0.76%), TCS (0.75%), Wipro (0.62%) and HCL (0.10%) are trading in green.

BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 1.59 points up at 7,394.70 as ONGC (1.87%) is trading in green whereas BPCL (3.36%), HPCL (2.15%), IPCL (1.07%), GAIL (0.81%) and RPL (0.31%) are trading in red.

BSE Metal index dropped 135.59 points to trade at 10,291.46 as Tata Steel (3.65%) and SAIL (1.92%) are trading lower while Hindalco (2.32%) and NALCO (0.06%) are trading higher.

BSE Auto index dropped 52.56 points to trade at 4,759.52 as Hero Honda (2.95%), Maruti Udyog (2.23%), M&M (1.80%), Tata Motors (1.64%) and Bajaj auto (1.02%) are trading in negative.

BSE Health Care index slipped 35.27 points to trade at 3,736.62 as Ranbaxy (2.81%), Dr. Reddy (1.53%), GSK (1.42%), Cipla (0.57%) and Sun Pharma (0.51%/) are trading in negative.

BSE Capital goods index declined 30.66 points to 10,927.75 as BHEL (1.66%), Siemens (0.98%) and ABB (0.83%) are trading in red while L&T (0.79%) is trading in green.

BSE FMCG index declined 21.78 points to trade at 1,789.82 as ITC (2%), Dabur (1.75%) and HLL (0.60%) are trading in red.

BSE Banks index slipped 17.73 points to trade at 7,494.36 as HDFC Bank (1.38%) and PNB (1.16%) are trading lower while SBI (0.91%) and ICICI Bank (0.31%) are trading higher.
