Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a positive note as it grew marginally by 19.60 points to close at 14,083.41 while Nifty closed up by 0.60 points at 4,145.60 by almost pairing the early gains. Of the 2,621 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,371 stocks declined while 1,164 stocks advanced. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed lower by 26.74 points and 22.58 points at 6,129.48 and 7,320.01 respectively.

BSE Capital goods index closed up by 21.63 points at 10,863 as BHEL (0.38%), Siemens (0.21%) and L&T (0.30%) closed higher while ABB (0.41%)closed lower.

BSE bank index closed lower by 13.70 points at 7,427.55 as BOI (0.93%), ICICI bank (0.19%) and SBI (1.25%) closed in red while PNB (1.41%) and HDFC bank (0.73%) closed in green.

BSE Auto Index closed marginally up by 3.22 points at 4,703.93 as Hero Honda (3.24%) closed higher while Maruti Udyog (0.37%), Tata motors (0.28%) and M&M (0.22%) closed in red.

BSE Metal index closed at 10,258.74 grew by 16.02 points as Hindalco (2.06%) and SAIL (1.52%) closed higher while Nalco (1.04%) and Tata Steel (1%) and closed in red.

BSE IT index closed higher by 28.29 points at 5,015.10 as Infosys (1.49%) and Satyam computers (0.38%) closed in green while Patni computers (3.03%), Wipro (0.97%) and HCL Tech (0.92%) closed in red.

BSE Health Care Index closed at 3,751.64 fell by 10.49 points as Dr. Reddy lab (1%), Sun pharma (0.25%) and Cipla (0.19%) closed higher while Ranbaxy labs (0.37%) closed lower.

BSE FMCG index closed up by 11.09 points at 1,790.19 as Dabur (0.86%) and HLL (0.55%) closed in red while ITC (2.12%) closed in green.

BSE oil & gas index closed higher by 41.92 points at 7,413.97 as GAIL (5.47%), HPCL (4.21%) and IPCL by (0.51%) closed in green while BPCL (1.99%), Reliance petroleum (1.59%) and ONGC (0.42%) closed in red.
