Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a negative note as it closed lower by 41.01 points at 14,162.71 while Nifty closed marginally up by 1.45 points at 4,171.45. Of the 2,569 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,272 stocks advanced while 1,214 stocks declined. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed higher by 19.31 points and 29.34 points at 6,180.92 and 7,350.25 respectively.

BSE Auto Index closed up by 7.45 points at 4,674.80 as Maruti Udyog (1.62%), Tata motors (1.21%) and Bajaj Auto (0.11%) closed in green while Hero Honda (0.51%) closed in red.

BSE Capital goods index surged by 184.76 points to close at 11,156.78 as BHEL (2.95%), L&T (1.29%), ABB (0.78%) and Siemens (0.55%) closed in green.

BSE bank index closed higher by 43.93 points at 7,461.59 as HDFC bank (0.94%), SBI (0.73%), OBC (0.43%), PNB (0.43%) and ICICI bank (0.25%) closed in positive.

BSE Metal index closed at 10,495.98 slipped by 71.56 points as Tata Steel (2.29%), Hindalco (1.68%) and Sesa Goa (0.44%) closed in red while SAIL (1.88%) closed in green.

BSE IT index closed lower by 37.64 points at 4,996.12 as Patni computers (2.20%), Satyam computers (1.55%), Infosys (0.53%), HCL Tech (0.34%) and Wipro (0.34%) closed in red.

BSE Health Care Index closed marginally higher by 1.77 points at 3,795.20 as Glaxosmithkline (2.28%) and Ranbaxy labs (1.01%) closed higher while Sun pharma (1.16%) and Dr. Reddy lab (0.96%) closed lower.

BSE FMCG index closed in positive at 1,788.73 grew by 8.06 points as ITC (0.43%) and HLL (0.13%) closed in positive while Dabur (1.08%) closed in negative.

BSE oil & gas index declined by 35.13 points at 7,457.49 as IOCL (1.80%), Reliance petroleum (0.78%) and IPCL (0.68%) closed lower while GAIL (1.98%), HPCL (1.15%) ONGC (0.35%) closed higher.
