The BSE Sensex ended the session on a positive inspiring note as it closed higher by 215.36 points at 14,295.50 while Nifty grew by 67.2 points to close at 4,214.30. Of the 2,629 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,403 stocks advanced while 1,144 stocks declined. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed up by 71.17 points and 41.07 points at 6,244.04 and 7,357.75 respectively.
BSE Auto Index advanced by 63.50 points to close at 4,697.47 as Tata motors (2.80%), Hero Honda (1.85%), Bajaj Auto (1.77%), Maruti Udyog (1.10%) and M&M by (1.01%) closed in green.
BSE Capital goods index surged by 253.82 points to close at 11,358.06 as L&T (3.56%) and BHEL (1.83%), Siemens (1.13%) and ABB (0.21%) closed in positive.
BSE bank index surged by 202.36 points to close at 7,681.51 as BOI 6.66%, SBI 4.10%, PNB 3.02%, ICICI bank 2.89% and HDFC bank 1.10% closed in green.
BSE Metal index closed at 10,611.59 up by 187.99 points as JSW steel (3.81%), Tata Steel (3.38%), Sterlite industries (2.85%) and SAIL (2.33%) closed in positive.
BSE IT index closed lower by 57.02 points at 4,883.59 as Satyam computers (1.80%), Infosys (1.61%), TCS (0.51%) and Wipro (0.29%) closed in red.
BSE Health Care Index closed marginally higher by 6.23 points at 3,781.22 as Dr. Reddy lab 0.68% and Glaxosmithkline 0.48% closed higher while Ranbaxy labs (0.15%), Cipla (0.41%) and Sun pharma (0.21%) closed lower.
BSE FMCG index closed up by 13.60 points at 1,802.69 as Dabur (1.73%), ITC (0.13%) and HLL (0.83%) closed in positive.
BSE oil & gas index closed higher by 212.76 points at 7,645.59 as IPCL (3.07%), GAIL (2.88%), ONGC (2.87%), Reliance petroleum (2.69%) and IOCL (1.06%) closed in green.
